Difficult to say until we know who is left, would be amazed if two or three don't leave in the next few weeks.

My thoughts exactly. We can easily pick two different competitive teams to go out and play a Premier League game. Don't know how Leslie squares the circle, but just glad it isn't my problem.

Massive challenge for Hughes. Like Bowen said on talk sport you can't just chuck a load of mavericks in up top who aren't gonna dig in for the team too. Time will tell over the next few months who is prepared to give everything for the shirt. One thing is for sure, it's a wonderful conundrum to be blessed with the kind of talent we have now.

Yes I'm thinking exactly the same and if we sign Yarmolenko I think my head will explode trying to work out how we will line up IF everybody is fit.Affelay,Diouf, Arnie,Joselu,Shaqiri with Walters,Odemwingie & Crouchy in reserve.Bojan just behind.I assume either Walters or Crouchy or both will go but it's a nice problem to have.

Players who I think will except bit part players Crouch, Adam, Sidwell, Ireland, Bardsley.
Players who won't
Walters, Wilson, Cameron,
Simply due to their international careers

Players who won't Walters, Wilson, Cameron, Simply due to their international careers I think we should keep all of the above. We should look at extending Walters' contract for 12 months on a few bob more than currently to reward his loyalty. (If he still wants out, that would be his prerogative). It may then be necessary to allow players out on loan deals where we can get them back reasonably quickly, if there are injuries. Crouch needs to be kept and given regular game time, as he is a top bloke and excellent squad member among the group.

I'm wondering how we'll manage to keep the strikers happy. I can imagine joselu will start getting annoyed if he doesn't get games.

I have seen absolutely no pre season but, someone I know Who followed them on tour says he was one that disappointed him the most, and thought he was furthest from the team. I'd like to hear others views

It's Diouf's position to lose and it's up to Joselu to force his way into the side. You'd have thought the Capitol Cup might be a good opportunity to give him 90 minutes.

There will be unhappy players and I would hope so too it shows passion to play. LMH is doing a fine job and I trust him to "manage" the players expectations as well as ours.

If theres any takers for Teixeira, Ireland, Bardsley I would get rid right now. Ireland I rate him but hes a million miles from the starting line-up with the new signings that can easily play central.
I would keep Crouch as we are not sure if Joselu will make the grade yet. Maybe have a different view in Jan
I would let either one of Odemwingie/Walters leave. Get the feeling Walters will want out if hes not starting games so I feel hes the one likely to make way.

Players who I think will except bit part players Crouch, Adam, Sidwell, Ireland, Bardsley. Players who won't Walters, Wilson, Cameron, Simply due to their international careers I think Crouch has already accepted this, at his age, though I expect him to get a fair amount of game time (many people thought he should have come on on Sunday). Charlie has become a regular and would surely be narked if he's dropped again, though he accepted a long wait without complaint before. I don't expect Sidwell, Ireland or Bardsley to play much at all, assuming that most of the new signings come off. Walters might depend on what other offers he gets. Wilson and Cameron will play plenty, especially until Ryan is fit again. Having said all that, surely some players will go. As I said with Walters, it probably all depends on who receives offers.

Bardsley and Texiara will surely leave either on loan or sold?As for the rest I think a few will be sitting in front of me at home games.

Tex must go - he is simply not worth a spot in our 25. For the others, it depends who is interested in them. Sidwell had interest from Leeds, Walters from WBA. Crouch may interest the likes of QPR if Austin leaves. Takers for Bardsley? Not sure on his wages, but we'd have to subsidise a drop to the Championship most probably. I guess a Burnley type might look at him.

I've always considered keeping players not in the team happy one of the most important task of the management team. They seem to have done well with the likes of Adam, Whelan, Crouch, Walters and a few others at various stages who have all come back to show improved form. Whether we're now in age of a new level of Prima Donna though, who knows?

The vultures are already circling.Crouch particularly .Apparently there have already been offers. I really hope Crouch stays here and scores his 100th goal in a Stoke shirt. He still has a lot to offer even if it is from the bench. His PR value at the Asia trophy was excellent His defensive skills at set pieces are also valuable We need lots of options, players will be injured, suspended, unavailable. Up to 14 are used for most games For MH and co it is a challenge that's his job We need to retain quite a few of our team players who have got us to 9th place over the past 2 seasons imo

I think modern day footballers more readily accept it's a squad game and most are happy to pick up the money at the end of each month, especially at the top clubs. Whether they are happy being a squad player at Stoke City is another thing.

Once Bojan is fit and Afellay 100%, I don't see how Charlie Adam will get into the side. Afellay may well end up alongside Whelan or Van Ginkel at times, but he's also a ready-made alternative to Bojan. I'd keep him but feel he'll go back to being a bench option. And if Yarmo joins, all bets are off.

The signing of Afellay has probably finished off Irelands chances of a decent run in the team. Bojan, Afellay, Adam are the likely CAM players.
Teixera isn't getting anywhere near the first team so might as well go.
Johnson has finished off Bardsleys chances, he needs to go.
I don't think Jon is quite done yet, he'll still get gametime out wide, certainly while Moha isn't ready.
I'd like Sidwell to go but we are lacking in "non attacking" central midfielders so I think he needs to stay unless a new face comes in.

If we are to maintain 9th place at least and take the cups seriously,we'll need a big squad. The good thing about Hughes' management style is that a player knows that if he gets a chance in the team and performs well,he'll keep his place.

I would frame the original question slightly differently. The most important thing is to find a formation and a group of players that works. That may not be the 'best' eleven individuals. Then if the team is working, most fringe players will understand why they are not playing.
