Bowen saying Ryan out for next 3 months - Twitter. Whether this means a short term loan ?

3 months could be conservative, judging by Bowen's comments. I'd be very surprised if centre half wasn't being urgently looked at

Lovely photo Yeah a loan makes sense. The others we have are all too similar, more readers than battlers. We need a physical presence at the heart of our defence.

If we try and get by with what we have I think we could struggle to get near the top half.

Although Geoff was excellent on Sunday a centre half is now a MUST if we are to achieve what we want this season.

I'd be very surprised if centre half wasn't being urgently looked at The big worry for me is that the management see something in Wooly that I just can't. For me he screams "target me" and any half decent opposition manager would surely identity him as a weak link. If he is to be Ryans stand in then we could really struggle defensively.

What a legend Ryan is, I hope that however long he needs to recover that he can get back to his best.
Like others have said, we absolutely need a commanding, dominant CB to fill in while Ryan's out, someone who can marshal the troops. I have 100% confidence in Muniesa's defensive ability, but the others all have their flaws, and we must never underestimate the importance of having strong leadership in the team - that was what we lacked when we went down 4-1 to Blackburn last season.

We've got two centrebacks injured and Muniesa struggles with injuries. Whether Woolly is rated or not, we need another CH just to make the numbers up!!!

Hard to get the right centre half. Shawcross is absolutely perfect for Stoke. Or as close to perfect as we can get.

Who's around that fits the loan bill? I can see us sticking with what we have. I reckon an overseas loan would make sense. It's a big ask of a foreign loan to drop straight into the team and be comfortable. Cameron and Muniesa were great on Sunday so I'd stick with it but if Ryan's not ready by the end of January we might need to rethink on a longer term basis perhaps.
