What's that lurking behind the 'Destroy All Monsters' 7"? {A find in itself but curious it's got the £5 sticker on it.} Is it Magazine, The Fall or is it Bogshed? Any chance of a list of your finds I like a bit of vicarious digging and that looks like a curious and quite eclectic haul. Only healthy curiosity. Good stuff.

Nice find NG4POTTERS. What a steal! Good to see Ash in your haul. Went on a cruise that they played on last year. Man, their drummer can drink...

Was in a shop selling old vinyl on Merrial St in 'Castle'. The only album I was interested in was on show and the chap couldn't locate the sleeve/vinyl to go inside it. There were plenty of 'Top of the Pops' albums if anyone fancies a listen to those. (Yeah, that's right,the one's that were covers and not the original artists)!

When I was about 16, I did a week's work experience at Radio Stoke. One of the tasks was pulling out the corresponding reference cards from the record library for discs that they were chucking out. There must have been at least half a dozen copies of "We'll be With You" that were for binning. And I didn't nab one of them! To bloody honest me....

I spend half my life trawling for vinyl so come up with these obscure finds on a regular basis.

I'm having a sabbatical from Charity shop vinyl surfing, I got demoralised by the dirth of pearls. And I need to make some room before I dip in again. A couple of local 'dealers' sewed up the Charity shops with first dibs. My last great find was a stack of old blues {Big Bill Broonzy, Bukka White, Sonny Terry and such} and Horizon LPs in great nick, about ten years ago in a Charity Shop in Tunstall- and I'm still working through them. I found an original Watkins Copycat reverb machine in a Charity Shop in Stoke £5. It was labelled as a portable sewing machine! I miss the digging and the unexpected finds. Great stuff.

Nottingham charity shops are a goldmine mate! Found a south African pressing of DC let there be rock and sold it for 300 quid on ebay to a guy in Spain. That's one of many. A copy of wire's debut single in demo format too, and a first press of led zep 1.

Cheers. I'm having a sabbatical from Charity shop vinyl surfing, I got demoralised by the dirth of pearls. And I need to make some room before I dip in again. A copy of wire's debut single in demo format too, and a first press of led zep 1. That's fine work. Especially if it's a hobby. I've had many a Eureka moment when digging the crates and I think I'll go back to it in me dotage. With the power of the internet now you can always take five while you do a bit of research. I used to do regular pilgrimages to all sorts of places sniffing for vinyl. To the Cheshire posh Charity shops {shit taste in music}, over to New Brighton in the West, throughout the Peaks to Derby and beyond, all over. Some great finds. Crewe was always a fertile hunting ground. Bournemouth was my favourite for finds. I used to visit the Hospital Radio Bournemouth Charity shop in Boscombe, it was fantastic for both artefacts and music: loads of cheap promo cds and stuff that had been donated but too risque/inappropriate for hospital radio. Promos of all the early Cypress Hill releases. There were a couple of really good independant record shops in the Town too. It would make a fine away trip.... As I say I got ground down with too much Abba, Dooleys and Des O'Connor when sifting through the boxes in the Charity shops around here, so I've curtailed the search. One has to be careful, I once bought 500 Classical 78's and a Garrard Dansette.. because I just couldn't walk away in case I was missing something. It was worth it but it soon becomes a compulsion. I always preferred 'Theme For A Team' to the A side. {Was it a double AA?}

Sheffield's great for charity store vinyl. I have an online vinyl store and most of the stuff I sell if stuff that I pick up for pence in charity shops or on ebay.
People clearly have no idea what their records are worth.
