Haugaard, moha and Molina - great additions to the mark Hughes project and the future is looking bright
Given - great addition as mentor to butland and more than capable of taking the no 1 spot if needed
Johnson - a player with 50 England caps to his name cannot be as crap as some here would have him to be; a good signing in my opinion
Afellay - if he' manages to avoid injuries he'll be the rock the city signing
Van ginkel - the unknown factor ; certainly has very big shoes to fill as a replacement to nzonzi
Wollscheid - well I've already expressed my views on him nothing else to add

Oh yes I thought I had left someone out
Joselu - a bit of an unknown quantity but totally trust Hughes on a striker

We're 3 signings from having a unbelievable window. Winger, centre mid, and centre half. The loans are still there to be used, I can see Moses back in another 12 month deal. Then perhaps a big money move for a cm. or that's what I'm hoping. With the possibility of anothe loan for a cb. Come on stoke so so close

'Transfers in' and medium term I think we have done some excellent business.
The 'transfers out' plus the apparent long term Shawcross injury, the failure to resign Moses give us a real headache which wasn't helped by nothing really clicking in the close season and is the reason so many folks on here are nervous and edgy right now.
It's nothing a few good results early doors won't fix but the first 5 fixtures are pretty brutal so I'll be hanging on for the ride.

Didn't realise that bud. I thought maybe with his injury record last season we may have got him for another loan like we did with assaidi.

Basically a lot of promising youngsters and Affelay. Given just in case. We will probably be OK but the people who hold the purse strings are taking some big risks that seem unnecessary. With the money coming in there's no way a Premier league team needs to run a surplus on player recruitment. We appear to be making an effort to recruit ready made first team regulars but maybe not going in aggressively enough to make things happen. Not sure I'm convinced it's been even a satisfactory window but willing to be convinced

You could throw right back into that too.

MVG could turn out to be fantastic player but he doesn't grab me as the authoritive midfielder that controls the tempo like nzonzi. All window I've banged the drum that this needs addressing and I'm still hoping it still may do. The other major one at the minute is cb. With Ryan out we desperately need a experienced defender with a presence especially with such a young raw keeper

We are 3 signings short which given we've made 8? signings is fucking frightening!
We will need a centre back of that I'm sure.
And then there's the obvious central midfielder and right winger we need.

We needed three at end of last season, we have signed eight we still need three, so we needed three we will need to sign eleven fantastic stuff, very promising window we will be fine here comes a top four finish and nailed on Cup winners.

I like Afellay a lot, no idea where he will play, but he's a decent player.

We're going down.

He's overly pessimistic, you're overly optimistic. The truth probably lies inbetween. Hopefully all will be ok. Hopefully we'll make one or two top draw signings. To judge the window at this point and class it as anything other than underwhelming is bullshit.

For my money, we've so far come out weaker than last season.
As others have stated we need a winger (Yarmolenko would do nicely, thank you!), a central midfielder (Fer seems to be going Sunderland, but otherwise he fits the bill) and a commanding central defender - depending on the conclusion on Ryans back-trouble (Hughes must have Chris Samba in mind)

What if we look at areas of the team rather than individuals? Goalkeeper: this seems fine to me (a promising youngster, experience, and a number one who will surely be as good as Bego was last season at least). Defence: poor (a weak and slow centre half and a full back who looks only marginally better than what we already had). Midfield: jury is out in this key area (van G will move forward more than N'Zonzi but how good is he, and he's only on loan). Wide: a big gamble with a player whose best days were some time ago. Forward: difficult to see how Joselu can fit into the same team as Diouf. Some promising youngsters have been bought for the future. A mixed picture in what looks like a scattergun rather than targeted approach.
