Oh god I would love Fer! We couldn't sign another striker and keep people happy however so Austin would be pointless.

We aren't going to put big money down for a striker, are we?
I'd definitely have taken him before we splashed on Joselu, but there's no way now.
And Fer seems to be dotting the 'i's and crossing the 't's on a Sunderland loan.

Think if we show enough money to qpr we could nick in with a deal, Austin I would love. So many saying we don't need a striker but we have 3 that are going to be at the end of contract/ too old next season so I think Austin would be a diamond for us, think of it more of dealing with the matter before it becomes an issue

As an aside, what happened to the FL threats to not allow QPR into the championship until they had paid the huge fine imposed due to FFP irregularities? Or has the thick brown envelope worked its magic once again?

Austin is great but we don't need him.
Fer is one of those who looks good but then has been part of two really shit sides that have got relegated. And I know we've signed relegated players for but 2 years is pretty bad luck nigh the start of a pattern!

I'd take a chance on Austin Don't understand this don't need a striker business and I shake my head. Austin is proven in the prem and scored 17 goals in a shit team, walters 12 month left, po last season, crouch last season so why not invest before we need, he is home grown, mass of potential and available

We play one up front.
And we've got 3 front line strikers plus Walters and Odemwingie.
Realistically, with other more pressing gaps, we just aren't going to buy another one for £10m+, are we?

And we shouldn't buy a guy who scored 17 goals? Madness I never understood why we weren't in for Fer and Austin to begin with. If we'd bought those two in and Afellay, Johnson, Yarmo and a CB id say we'd had a better window than at present

Absolutely right here FM. However I can see him using Diouf on the right hand side to fill that RW gap, but that doesn't really solve that situation either.

Fer is the best, for the money, N'Zonzi replacement that we could hope for. Would be nice to add to our Dutch contingent too.

Have they got any centre halves for sale?

I would take both of them plus Matty Phillips
These are realistic targets which, if we are prepared to spend (remember we still have some spare change from the sale of Nonzi, Begovic and Huth), are doable.
For now the Shaqiris of this world are pie in the sky; with all due respect who would come to Stoke if they have a good chance of playing champions league football ?
When we progress further and reach the levels of, say, Southampton and Tottenham, then yes we can attract these kinds of players.
At this point in time, our best bet is to fish in the pond of the relegated teams, taking their better players. It doesn't mean that because a team has been relegated then all 22 players were wank, in the same way that because we finished a very creditable 9th all our players are world-beaters. In fact we did have quite a bit of dead wood in the squad and we still have players who are unable to take us to the next level.
So in my opinion we should strengthen our team with these players and aim for the bigger fish when or rods and tackles are big enough to catch them

We needed extra fire power and Hughes has bought Joselu. my choice would have been a decent bid for Austin although I suspect he might have been out of our reach. Lets just hope the cheap option of Joselu makes an impact.

Lets just hope the cheap option of Joselu makes an impact. I think or more hope it's a case of Hughes being given a budget and him penciling in the lions share of it on two wingers. I say I hope because it would be really dissapointing in my own eyes if we bring in a winger of the same calibre of the rest of the signings, reason being I think we could of done better with our summer incomings, a lot better. I hope the above is true because if not and a winger comes in who ticks the same boxes as the other incomings as in cheap, cheap wage, unproven and low personal profile I feel sorry for Mark Hughes because for me he's been shafted when other teams are strengthening considerably. It would be a summer of transfer patch work which would be a very poor effort from everybody involved in my opinion. We will have had the chance to really push forward this summer with a bit of ambition and without seeing some really quality come in before the window shuts we will go backwards. The club can't say we tried for this player we tried for that player but it didn't drop, other clubs are managing it

We also need a top 7 centre half, there is just no excuse for the window to close and our defence be as poor as it is. We knew Huth was leaving, we knew Shawcross and Muniesa were injury prone, it defies all logic to not address the issue, it was blatantly obvious we struggled without Shawcross last season.

This is the first time since the 70s that we've being able to even talk to players of a higher caliber so there is a lot bigger cats in this jungle so yeah we will chased off more often but we will be moving up in the pecking order and we will get the bigger signings watch clubs panic last day of the window I feel we may snare some 1 big

By my calculations at that points ratio over the course of the season we will be worth at least 24 wins, 6 draws & 6 Losses, that's 78 points. Champions League here we come. ffs, don't know why I'm concerned, bring on benteke, Wolly will have him in his back pocket. May aswell sell Shawcross, we don't need him

Can't help but think there will be short sharp increase in sales of spirits in S-o-T if Hughes Picks Wollscheid to play against Benteke on Sunday. Seriously though, surely it has to be Cameron?
