This is definitely one out of Tony Pulis' locker! I'd say Rory Delap would thrive in the MLS! bit.ly/1MHkqrs

On the face of it, that looked longer than some of Rory's missiles! It was still pretty high be the time it reached the far post.

We didnt exactly INVENT the long-throw in though, but people seem to believe that

Rory was never one for max distance preferring a flatter trajectory arriving at speed. I am sure if he chose to dick measure with the other big boys he could have lobbed one beyond the far post...he is that huge!

The pitch doesn't look very wide. Rory would have lobbed it out for a throw in on the other side...

St Johnstones Shaughnessy chucked it in a fair way too.

The longest throw I can remember was Dave Challinor of Tranmere Rovers. He could reach beyond the far post but as said above the deadly element of Rory's throw was the flat trajectory and the speed of it that gave defenders no time to adjust.

Andy Legg also had a big un.

Andy Legg also had a big un. Distantwise, I reckon Andy Legg would have been the winner. He could get it in the mix from the halfway line. It was as MarkwW has said... Rory's throws were deadly because of the velocity and flat trajectory he could get on them. I've seen lots of players with long throws, but none as deadly as Rory's. OS,

Nothing for Sonko, who lobbed it into the box from the halfway line away at Newcastle?

I thought Tranmere were taking the piss the first time I saw Dave Challinor.
Sending men into our box for a throw the from half way line; madness. I knew nothing.
Rory´s variation and speed definitely made his throws the most effective.

Nothing for Sonko, who lobbed it into the box from the halfway line away at Newcastle? Lobbed is the perfect description of Sonko´s throw ins. I´ve just got the image of his horror tackle at Blackburn going through my head. I think I´ve just reached the stage where I can forgive him now and can actually laugh at the sheer incompetence and lunacy of it.
