One week before the season and negative investment in the squad the spine of our team decimated player of the year left Id say an absolute catastrophe of a summer and every single ounce of blame lies at the door of the CEO The pattern of pre season is defeat , goals conceded and no creativity what so ever Fully expect unless their is a huge change in investment to start with 3 straight defeats and a sudden massive clash with WBA and you know who . Hang your head in shame let alone spout what a brilliant job you have done in the guardian . I bet you live on your own!

I think we are fucked. it looks like a massive cock up to me since the Liverpool game 10 short weeks ago everything has gone wrong. You can't say that or else Pwingy the Enforcer will say that you're retarded That clown should have been one of those secret police in Stalin's Russia combing the populace to stamp down on any any signs of disention as he does. The players have had some decent minutes against decent opposition. Bojan coming back has been a massive boost.. Arnie looks ready to go, injury permitting.. Still one or two needed - signings wise. Roll on Sunday'!

I do kind of get where you're coming from, you're right we haven't invested as much as some would of liked, it's not been through a lack of effort though... What will be will be. Plenty of time until the window shuts. Thumbs up.

To add a little context, below is the team that beat Liverpool 6-1. Butland will be a good replacement for Bego, and we hope Van Ginkel will be a half decent version of Nzonzi.
Add to this that we will have Bojan is some capacity, Afalley and Joselu available too, and I don't feel as worried. I'm also praying Shawcross and Arnie will be fit to start...
Begovic Cameron Shawcross Muniesa (substituted for Wilson) Pieters N'Zonzi Whelan Walters (substituted for Odemwingie) Adam Arnautovic (substituted for Crouch) Diouf

I couldn't care less about the pre-season results, but I think that replacing Huth with Wollscheid was an act of madness that will cost us.
With Shawcross in it our defence is just about passable. Without him it's an absolute car crash.
There's been a lot of talk about Stoke potentially improving even further this season, but I think we'll do very well to maintain a top 10 spot. That's nothing to do with how pre-season's gone, more a reflection of how highly I rated N'Zonzi.

He is a country fucking mile away from the mark and he will be proved so as the season pans out. He spreads his impending doom every week on here and he continues to make himself look like a complete dick. He is good comedy value though I suppose, although I doubt his missus (if he has one) would agree.

We have failed to keep our best players, failed to sign our top targets and with Shawcross our luck seems to have run out too. Worried doesn't start to say how I feel. Shock and indeed, horror.

I think this season will be the toughest yet for Hughes as expectation is so high and given some of our transfer targets, some sections of the support are waiting for a blockbuster.
Couple that with some key omissions from last year:
Bego Zonz Moses
And potentially
Arnie and Ryan for a while by the looks of things.
MH has recruited well though but we still look short in key areas.
I have total confidence in the gaffer and his ability to get the team firing but with the loss of Zonz and potentially our skipper to long term injury, our ambitions may have to be tempered a little.
On the (big) plus side we have Bojan and Odemwingie back to fitness and some additional attacking talent that will hopefully settle in and add to the exciting array of attacking options.
For me we are three players away from having a top season but I'm only expecting one (or at a push two of them) to come in.
We are desperate for an experienced and pacy winger plus we need a replacement for Zonz and someone who can fill in for Ryan if he's out for a good while.
Those players aside I know that we will be OK but to get more points than last season does look a tall order for now.
I can't wait for the season to start, I'm not entirely sure how it's going to pan out but I know we will be in for some good football and plenty of thrills and spills.
Roll on next Sunday!

I dont see us keeping many clean sheets this season.
I think Hughes will be hoping we score more than the opposition.
It should be exciting at the very least

Im rather worried right now, I just hope when Hughesy glues together all the bits of his jigsaw -it makes sense
so far, we have had absolutely no sign of our starting eleven all on the pitch at the same time
and Ryans absense is a massive worry, along with - no real sign that we've covered the bases as regards Bego and the zonz as yet
however - in Hughes I trust
and whetehr the owners like it stated or not - we have money

I always think that every forum and every fanbase must be this worrisome, it can't just be us.
Then I read through a couple of threads after a defeat and it's ridiculous.
I'm all for criticism, but this board must be the most knicker-wetting, only happy to post if something is wrong board out there.
It's fucking preseason.

My view is we're a week before the season starts....
I went to Brentford last week, and sat on the front row on the half way line. Nothing remarkable in that but it gave a real insight seeing the players knock it about close-up.
Players were showing neat touches and Bojan played on tiptoes.
What was lacking was "intensity" and for me this is key to our game. No meaningless friendlies will ever replicate a Premier League match.
Leslie will have us drilled for next week and the early games.
Maybe with the addition of a marquee signing and a couple of points on the board people on here will calm down.

My thoughts are that we look pretty poor pre-season.
Last season I always felt we had a lack of quality in attack. Then at the end we got those results against Spurs and Liverpool and it glossed over our very poor attacking stats until those two games.
However, we have lost Bego, Nzonzi and Moses, and the players we have brought in are unproven and have not been impressive in pre-season. We look like a team trying to achieve things on a shoestring budget again.
I'm not happy with the transfer window to be honest and at this stage there is not a single new signing that we have made that I would have brought in.
If we don't make any top quality additions in the next few weeks I want to know what the game plan is. this isn't good

Exactly not one of the friendlies ive seen so far have been played with any intensity or the probable starting line up. Players have pulled out of tackles not quite stretched or committed to get to that final ball and as I see there's nowt wrong with that while we ain't kicking a ball in anger, we have players nursing niggles(shawcross) or recovering fitness from bigger lay offs why risk it now for nothing. Sundays level of commitment will be the test win lose or draw if we show the heart and technique we were showing in most games last season I have no worries what so ever about securing a high mid table finish again ,because lets be honest other than a cup win we ain't going much higher than maybe eighth.

I wouldn't say I'm worried, but there are concerns, mainly Ryan, and we shouldn't be taking these lightly.
I'm perfectly happy we have enough in midfield and up front to progress, with the exception of bringing in the top wide man we need.
I'm not convinced Wollsheid will do the job we need him to. People keep suggesting it's too early to have made up our minds, but this is a player we've had for more than long enough and I don't see any evidence that he can be relied upon in the long run.
