First of all it was absolutely great to see Bojan getting some more game time under his belt. I truly hope he can find his form again because he will be a massive player in our squad! A little concerned about Stoke defensively and would like to see a quality centre half added to the squad. If we are truly going to get into the top six we have got to get out of the mentality, that I see on this site, that Huth and Shawcross are footballing gods! They are heroes to many but they can be improved on. NZonzi was a great squad member and added great quality to our midfield and he will be a great miss. We have acquired some good players who have athleticism and good technique. I don't want to be watching Diouf playing as a defender. He is a forward. It's alright getting him fit by running him as against Porto but we've now got wide players who can do a much better job for Stoke. I believe Joselu, Van Ginkel, Afellay and Given have been good signings and have great experience that will enhance our team. Walters and Adam will be seeing less game time this season but I believe they have a lot to contribute off the field. It is essential that our club maintains the battling and fighting spirit that has stood us well. I hope Walters chooses to stay! There are players in our squad who will be best served by finding regular playing time elsewhere! For me Crouch, Sidwell, Texiera, Wilson and Bardsley need improving on before the deadline and although Crouch has been a great footballer he just slows down any attacking momentum that we might generate. It is great to see Stoke making some young signings who are hopefully going to go on and push into the first team. I have no doubt that this site will have a stream of gobshites mouthing away after today's last friendly and sadly it could be even worse should we lose against Liverpool but I prefer to remain positive and put my faith in Mark Hughes and his team. I hope we have a memorable season!

I think that if somehow we could combine the two teams we put out yesterday and today and they open the transfer window back up, we'll be alright.

What I do like is that we have a group of attacking players that can play multiple forward roles. Joselu, Afellay, Bojan, Diouf, Arnie, Wingie can swap wings, play in the hole or down the middle. If they start to read each other's game and gel, we may see some real attacking flair this season. There's pace, creativity and flexibility in that line up.

I have wondered why we have played two of these so-called tournaments with all the attendant travelling. The focus has been on that rather than putting together a proper training programme and because we have played so many good sides the defeats have surely dampened the morale. I hope just under a week back in Stoke will be enough to create a team rather than a group of individuals, especially with so many new arrivals.

It's all on paper at the minute though isn't it? We've looked very uncreative up front since the Wrexham game.

Rock the City signings, pull the other one.
Pie in the Sky transfer targets.
Quite willing to reape the insane money on offer but not to back the manager.
A network team who can only spot players who are out of contract.
Genuinely concerned about our back four and an inexperienced keeper who'll need time to adjust but will be massively exposed based on our pre season.
Not looking forward to the likes of Sidwell being a regular starter.
Lack of creativity, yet again.

One week before the season and negative investment in the squad the spine of our team decimated player of the year left Id say an absolute catastrophe of a summer and every single ounce of blame lies at the door of the CEO
The pattern of pre season is defeat , goals conceded and no creativity what so ever
Fully expect unless their is a huge change in investment to start with 3 straight defeats and a sudden massive clash with WBA and you know who .
Hang your head in shame let alone spout what a brilliant job you have done in the guardian .

Only worry currently is Shawcross. He'd cost a small fortune to replace.
The rest will be fine and bed in nicely given a bit of time.

we can all see potential in the new youngsters. The team needs to spend time, this week, on working well together. we need a CB if shawcross is going to be missing games every time his nerve flairs up. We need a RW. Odemwingie is back. Bojan looking good. The midfield is a worry. The team Gelling and a couple more in.we will be fine.

As much as I loathe our CEO and what he thinks he is he can only play the hand he's dealt.
You've been pretty spot on with your posts but again his hands are tied.

I think we are fucked.
It looks like a massive cock up to me since the Liverpool game 10 short weeks ago everything has gone wrong.
We have failed to keep our best players, failed to sign our top targets and with Shawcross our luck seems to have run out too.
Worried doesn't begin to say how I feel.

We could quite conceivably start next weeks game with only one player less who had an impact on the last game we played against them.
