We lost having not really allowing them to create a chance all game.
We had the best chance. Diouf should have scored.
if we'd played this bunch a month from now we'd win easy.
No reason we can't get a result at spurs. Plus we'll have shaqiri by then!

Positives:
- Johnson played very well - Cameron, Muni and Wolly all played solid at CB, Benteke was shut out all game - Afellay looked very good, although he faded - if Diouf touches Adams cross or does better with the header, or we get the obvious penalty / Johnson scores, we win the game - Liverpool spent a fortune and didn't look as good as we did
The negatives are the fact we looked a little sloppy at times, our passing wasn't as crisp as normal and the midfield three didn't really gel. All of these can be ironed out over the next few weeks.
Throw in Bojan and Arnie, and I think we are in a good place.

Fair play Coutinho. It was a piece of magic, and already probably a goal of the season contender. But I think we atleast deserved a point from the game. Alot of positives - including Afellay, Johnson, MVG and Cameron. Also thought Diouf and Walters gave there all today. When we have Bojan fully fit and Arnie back from injury, we should be fine fettle.

Going forward, especially without Ryan, that back four's performance cannot be understated. More positives than negatives.

Same result as 12 months ago, but feels completely different. I was pissed off at our own incompetence when we lost to Villa, however I thought we were generally more composed and really didn't deserve to lose today. It was only a stunning goal that separated us from a team that has ambitions of the Top 4. Plenty of hard work to do from our point of view but there's plenty of positivity to take from that match.

The fact that we let an average side come hear and allow them the unwarranted media jizz fest that will almost certainly ensue is fucking galling. For that performance they did not deserve it. I very rarely say anything against Hughes but today I have this to say.
1. Get out of your dugout more during periods when the game is coasting and the players need to give 10% more.(ie the last 25 mins). Do not sit there discussing the game with Bowen behind your hand, he is not a player and cannot change the energy levels or tactics on it! 2. Your game plan in the second half involved deep crosses (and very good they were). Where the flying fuck was Crouch? Not bringing him on in the latter stages was baffling. 3. Sidwell is poor and the fact that he came on instead of Crouch is dum-fucking-founding. 4. Just because Van Ginkel came from Chelsea he is not necessarily good enough for us. Arnie or Odemwingie or new signing in the future please. 5. Well done for teaching the players composure on the ball (Especially the defence)
Other than that, a decent, encouraging performance that we can definitely build on.

Jammy bastards. I think they are quite average. Their fans will think they are world beaters right now, I'll take great pleasure watching them implode as the season progresses.

We are still a bit undercooked and having to play Afellay when he is short of fitness rather than use him as an impact sub was a loss and Charlie is a few weeks off his peak. I guess we had little choice about Sidwell but he was poor and cost us the game.
It is going to be a bumpy few weeks as this team settles in. Butland needs game time as he looks unsure as yet coming off his line but despite this, the back four did very well, first half we had the quickest back four I can recall, very pleased with Johnson. I thought Whelan was good and Van Ginkel showed a lot of energy but also needs time to bed in. Afellay looks a good footballer but more in central areas than wide. Diouf was a menace all afternoon but needs more support. Over the next month we should have Arnie and Bojan back and if we do sign Shaquiri then we will be in good shape

I think Liverpool were the better side, with more possession, more corners, and generally sharper, but the only difference was the brilliant goal.
I think Hughes will be the more satisfied manager tonight, and the Liverpool owners will be wondering about what the £77m spent this summer to bring Rogers spending to £289m.

Gutted in the end! Can't remember Butland making a save.
Everyone played well, least we deserved was a point, in the end we lost to a great strike for them.
Onwards and upwards.

If I ever see Sidwell on the pitch again it will be too soon. Not sure why Crouchie wasn't brought in. We're gonna miss Nzonzi more than I expected. Don't mean to be wrist slashing, but losing to Liverpool makes me want to end it. As soon as the glory hunter in the next office says word one tomorrow, he's fired sure as shit. Im so pissed off right now I can taste it. Geoff and the back looked good. Sidwell can lick me where I pee, lazy fuck. Long week ahead.

Why oh why did we put Sidwell on and not Crouch?Thought Hughes got a lot wrong today.Plusses were Muniesa,Geoff,Johnson.Lack of pace wide meant we had no goalscoring threat at all.

The basic fact is that our "Courtinho" is still not match fit. If we'd have had our match winner playing then it could've been us winning it with a wonder goal. Good first performance from us especially with our injuries at the mo.

I am obviously upset about the result but certainly not the performance.IMHO,I reckoned we were the better side and if we played like that week in week out then a similar position as last season is definately on the cards.
As for Liverpool, there are not many players on there team that I would swap for ours. On todays showing I would be more upset if we finished below them.

Well there were some positives
Cameron , muniesa and Johnson all played well the defence covered the loss of the supper well .
Negatives
-We desperately missed Nzonzi as even when we had a moment or two we didn't wrestle control of the game . - Affelay good footballer that is , was played out of position and is not a winger and won't be again and never a left winger not sure where he will fit in if and Arnie are ever fit a bits and pieces player for me We made two very odd Subs given we had Joselu and crouch on the bench why try and lock up with Sidwell and . Odemwinge who is no left winger either if Joselu can't get on 0-0 at home 10 minutes to go why do we spend £6 million on him -We created very very few chances and really didn't look like scoring Overall I think is a very very poor result in that it's likely we will go into the WBA game with nil points foloowed by arsenal away and a real condensed risk and we Mised a chance against a still forming Liverpool team . We have clearly regressed since the last game of the season and today the score was -Lack of investment 0 investment 1 our star player £10 million surplus not in the bank just did not deliver on the pitch and we are already playing players out of position While of course shaq would be most welcome we need a scruff of the neck game controller in midfielder desperately van ginkel may well be a better playe than Nzoznzi was 5 years ago and about to be a very fine one but we need a man and now who he can learn from and alongside at times On the basis of what we saw today id say undoubted regression and a very hard winter after a poor poor start Lies ahead and you all know where I think the accountability for that sits .

Oh you have the right to determine who is and isn't a stoke supporter well i never .
The point of a message board is that people with a common interest share their opinions ideally without abuse .
Hey ho shout all the names you like my view is we have regressed from last year and have a struggle ahead if you want to believe differently i hope your right .
