It's a pre-season friendly.
Totally unconcerned. It's about match fitness at this stage.

it's still an embarrassing thread. You can't deny that. Embarrassing? Nah mate, it's not a closed shop. Would it be embarrassing for a Swansea, Everton, Newcastle or Southampton fan to ASK the question? Of course it wouldn't. Or are you suggesting that we can't compete with these teams? It's not likely but it's certainly possible and as such, to simply ask the question isn't embarrassing at all. mate Newcastle have spent 32 mill plus this season.

Has nobody learnt anything from the last 152 years of pre season friendlies? Chill out people! yes i think we've all learnt it's an extremely important time of the year mate, particularly for those wild and common animals....the agenda monkeys! they're quite common nowadays as they seem to have grown used to human contact on message boards and social media. they have a very simple life which is basically a continual cycle of: if you play well with your first team = doesn't matter it's a friendly if you play poorly with barely any first team players in the side = told you so, we're shit and are going to get relegated. Scholes out! it's basically what these know-nothing creatures who spend their life on Pro-evo and Football Manager use in order to judge the club and the players for the rest of time. during the actual season if we have a good spell they tend to hunker down and hibernate, not to be heard of again until the summer when their cycle resumes. a simple and quite basic lifeform, not yet climbed out of the primordial ooze really in an evolutionary sense but due to that their innate aggression can give them the impression of being fucking idiots....Ricky Gervais has yet to become involved in their salvation

There was a thread on here the other day saying we should all keep strong and united if we lose 5 games on the bounce. Looks like we need that advise after a narrow defeat in a pre-season friendly .

I agree he was in a no win situation mate but at least make it look like your making an effort In what way mate ? The only effort he could of made was the tackle and if he'd done that it was a definite penalty .....Wilko used to do that and he continually got slaughtered for it instead of waving him by just try and get a block on it mate.I'd rather a defender give a pen away trying to tackle than not bother at all

Stephan Ireland was the player who annoyed me the most, never seen anyone take sooooooooooooooooooo long on the ball. looked like he was bored from the first whistle. However, same could be said for most of them today. Why did he start on the wing? Mind boggling.

Where does that leave us in the table after that defeat? Nowhere but it's a concern though isn't it. Judging by that performance we've got no chance against the bin dippers. Didn't we lose to Rhyl a couple of seasons ago? As much as I'd have loved go Germany on the piss with the lads I thought to myself why bother, it's s friendly! And that's exactly what it is! Friendly! About getting players match sharp for next week. Some looked way off the pace and I'm still convinced we need a midfielder that can control the game. But the window is still open so there's still chance

I struggle to think of any bar the Ronaldo sending off. EDIT-I know he did but my point is I feel it's exaggerated.

However, same could be said for most of them today. Why did he start on the wing? Mind boggling. Stephen Ireland was probably the worst player on the pitch. It is only a friendly but the way he turned backwards EVERY TIME, couldn't trap a ball, couldn't pass, it was awful. We need to ship out a couple of people and he would be my first choice.

Maybe he is but we still finished well above them last season, however it wouldn't be 'embarrassing' for an Everton fan to ponder the question about if it was possible for them to finish 6th, would it?
