So everyone is writing Odemwingie off then? He did a very decent job for us on the RW before his injury. Once he is back to 100% fitness i'd be happy to have him out on the right for us. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/15-16-Cologne-v-Stoke-City-Valencia-v-Porto-programme-proceeds-to-charity-Post-/301696005675?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item463e7bb62bAgreed he was a good player for us before his injury if we get him back at the same level then we have smother parry option that carries something of a goal threat. We need goals from the team and 6-1 notwithstanding it is an area that needs improving. MH 's teams have a better second half of the season - which has been stoke over the last two seasons. Which means a slow start and possibly disappointing defeats early doors. I hope I am wrong. Looking forward to watching Barca B again this season ! We are Barca in disguise , now where is my away shirt from 12-13?

Hughes said if we get a marquee winger, we'd probably do no more business.
Afellay isn't that marquee winger.
Still think we're in for Yarmolenko/Shaqiri. We'd have to get rid of Walters though, which I can't see us doing.

Now we have Affelay I think Traore is the more likely signing.
Of course I'd be chuffed if Yarmolenko or Shaqiri signed but that would necessitate some outgoings due to the squad size, Traore being under 21 wouldn't.

MH and co have been very careful to introduce their new signings gradually - in the case of Muniesa he was only "on the fringe " of a place in the starting 11 for much of his first year with us
Bojan was introduced gradually too. Arnie didn't walk straight into the team
It makes some sense to continue with this pattern and not expect all of our new signings to feature straightaway.
If there is only one more signing to complete then we would only lose one of our more established players unless there is a loan.
We need to function as a team, not have 2 or 3 players showcasing their skills to impress?
Next target Liverpool, after the 2 games at the end of this week I guess that MH will have a good idea who will feature in this game.
Exciting times

I think we will make two more signings , somebody to challenge Whelan and a Winger.

I hope to god we do not sign Shaqiri. The fact that he has publicly said that he'd "reluctantly" play for us as a stepping stone speaks volumes for the lad. Sorry Lad, we want someone who is prepared to get stuck in on a cold wed night away at Sunderland when we need the points, not some fancy dan who thinks he is bigger than the club and only puts a shift in when the big clubs are sniffing...For that reason...."I'M OUT"

All the obvious indications are that we will spend on another winger but Hughes must be keeping a careful eye on Ryan's injury problems. We've got plenty of players that can cover but Ryan is 'a cut above' and I'm not sure we could cope for a lengthy spell without him (or an equally good replacement). It's difficult to argue that any of our 'cover' CHs are anywhere near as good as Ryan.
