What does Mark Hughes do?
We need to know before we can judge.

Imo what Sparky and the coaches should be working on this pre season his defending set pieces. Now N'Zonzi has gone we've lost more height in the team so it's something we must address.

Running up mountains won't stop players falling awkwardly and unluckily picking up injuries.
We had a bad year last season with the number of knocks picked up but if it was down to poor preparation, we should see the same again this time round too. I think we just suffered some terrible luck and things will be back to normal this time round.
Either way, no amount of running up hills will coach players to be better footballers or to become a greater team.

Don't remember us having to many injuries during his first season in charge?

Don't remember us having to many injuries during his first season in charge? Correct, if it was down to poor preparation you'd expect to see it in both seasons. His first season in charge was above average in terms of staying fit - his second season produced the worst injury record since promotion. I reckon the chances are it is down to bad luck. One thing Hughes did predict, is that we would finish strongly - and we did in both seasons so he and the coaching team must be doing something right. In fact, Pulis had a much more up and down record in that respect and his last season in charge produced a great start and a very poor finish to the season - although previous seasons were more consistent in that respect.

I used to like the idea of our players being 'Stoke-fit' under TP. Kind of epitomised our Spartan values against those effete Athenians known as Arsenal

The fact that under TP we barely picked up a point post February makes me think otherwise. The way we burnt out toward the end of the season used to be embarrassing.

Fuck me. He's been here two years. Had two successful seasons
His transfers have been more hit than miss, we play largely attractive football
We are playing in the Asia cup instead of running up hills with the von trapps and still people question him.

TP's team will happily produce the data for anyone to see which shows that their players are not only the fittest in the Prem, but they also suffer least muscular injuries. This is well known throughout the game and the idiot who has spoken out has just ended his own career.

Which is also completely outdated bollocks as well.

Which is also completely outdated bollocks as well. It most certainly is not outdated bollocks and was very successful at Stoke. Taking a club from the bottom of the Championship to the Premier League, keeping them there for 5 seasons, getting to an FA Cup Final and several other quarter finals and making the knock out stages of the Europa League doesn't really help your argument much. I guess we are, once again, talking about how you like to see the game played but, as has always been the case, there is not simply ONE WAY to play football. He's gone and I'm happy to throw my lot in with Hughes who is doing a fantastic job AS DID HIS PREDECESSOR. Can we just, for God's sake stop constantly trying to 'knock' a manager who did an absolutely fantastic job of putting this football club back on the map. BTW: He hasn't done too shabbily since he left either.

Remember that game against Blackpool when the Blackpool team bus got stuck in a traffic jam on the motorway. The kick-off was delayed for an hour or so, and when the match went ahead, we lost and picked up a couple of muscle injuries. At the time, Pulis mentioned that we rarely got muscle injuries, and for reasons I can't remember, had a go at the ref, blaming him for the delayed kick-off that had resulted in the muscle injuries to two of our players.
What I couldn't understand at the time was how it was that our players, who could have rested or exercised as they saw fit, picked up the muscle injuries, while the Blackpool players seemed to cope rather well with sitting for hours on a bus.

I'd just love to see the reaction of some of the cock knockers on here if Pulis had said 'my teams get stronger in the second half of the season'.
We'd have had our first messageboard related coronary.

Doz, its not a matter of trying to knock him. His methods of play and physical conditioning are clearly outdated as they were once mainstream but have become marginalized to very few coaches who still play and train in such a manner. I let go of anti Pulls rants the very day he left. You have to look at it in the context that I was replying to March4's suggestion that a modern coach was ending his own career by critisising archaic training methods.

Imagine if the managment weren't so shit and the owner wasn't a tight cunt and the recruitment team weren't a bunch of useless twats, we'd be a top 10 premier league team.
Shame.
