a documentary featuring the troubled genius drummer - ginger baker. 10.35pm tuesday 7th jul, bbc one. conner wait ....it's supposed to be properly good. saw him just the one time playing with hawkwind at the vic around 1979ish

I saw a doco about him I dunno if it's the same one. Horrible man. That's not a spoiler or anything either because it'd be hard for a rational person come to any other conclusion!

It was an eye opener. Despite it all nobody ever questions his drumming brilliance.

i cant say im really familiar with him ....he was in cream i think. well documented smack problems too

From what I recall it was done in a kind of Louis Theroux style. He's a genius, but not a very likeable one. A knuckler. There was some interesting stuff about his Polo, and dealings with Fela Kuti. I seem to remember being left a bit underwhelmed with the doc.,{I won't do a spoiler} but it set me on a google search to find out/see more of the man. I think it was that that got me on to the 'Drum Battles' stuff on youtube. Cheers for the heads up I'll no doubt watch it again on Iplayer.

Probably the best drummer they ever had in my opinion and did some great work on the Levitation album in particular. always terry ollis for me. and youre right it was on the levitation tour with huw lloyd langton back on guitar. i was excited about seeing the legend gb but he was pretty low key as i remember. last time i saw hawkwind too
