It's back. And at least the BBC are treating it really low key every day...
BBC 1 - 4 hours BBC 2 - 10 hours 7 hours on 5 Live 7.5 hours on 5 Live Extra
Pretty much every day.
For no other sport do they dedicate so much air time.

I don't like tennis and I don't like all the inbred foppishness that goes with it. I wonder if Sir Cliff will be making an appearance this year

For no other sport do they dedicate so much air time. What other sport do the BBC have that could possibly take up that much air time though? if they had the Ashes I'm pretty certain it would be given similar air time and when the football World cup is on they have no problem sticking back to back games on. Don't get the issue seeing as it's just 2 weeks of the year.

No other sport is treated the same. 14 hours a day over two weeks on BBC 1/2 - That probably 160 hours+ coverage. For the World Cup over a month, they usually have 4 or so hours a day - so less than 100 hours coverage - so nowhere near what they give Wimbledon. As for their coverage of cricket - I'm pretty certain the BBC schedulers abject treatment of test cricket when the BBC use to have the rights is part of the reason they don't have the rights now. I can remember many a time that Wimbledon would be live on BBC1 and BBC2 while the test was in play. Sometimes they'd have the same match on both channels FFS. The BBC always use to prioritise the coverage of tennis, golf and snooker ahead of the cricket.

You're right, I'm gutted Wimbledon is on because it's stopping me from watching hit shows such as 'Cash in the attic' and 'Eggheads'. Anyhow, there are hundreds of channels so it's not like you or anyone else is forced to watch it?

Dreadful sport. Similar to snooker golf and f1, all cures for insomnia IMHO.

It's one of the biggest sporting events in the world, and it's in London, so at least it doesn't involve half the BBC flying half way round the world the world to spend 4 weeks in 5 star luxury at our expense.

Well , to be fair it's probably cheaper flying them half way across the world than it is putting them in a hotel in London .

Tennis is wank, the crowd are fucking embarrassing, sitting there shouting,Andy der der der Andy der der der! Fuck off you daft bastards and shove your strawberries up your pompous asspipes. Murray mound formally known as Henman hill can fuck off an all!

I have never been to any event where the standard of ladies has been higher. I used to go every year when I played the game a lot. I like a bit of tennis me. I stopped going, and wouldn't go now, because the "lookatmeeeee" wankers in the crowd shouting between services. It gets worse every year and they should have stopped it years ago. So I watch on TV with the sound down these days, I particularly enjoy the early rounds of the ladies singles nb) Chris Evert is 60!... and would still get it...

It's not the complete saturation coverage from the public service broadcaster? I could understand if they used BBC3 or 4, but it's the two mainstream channels that are just blocked out.

I was watching Wimbledon on the BBC and, whilst talking about Centre Court's new surface, Andrew Castle talked about the 'minor ploughing' that had been going on.
We've come to expect that from the BBC but bragging about it on live television, that's bold.

EDIT: Just checked, apparently BBC3 & BBC4 share the same transponder and bandwidth as CBBC and CBeebies so to use them would mean the kiddies would have nothing

I enjoy playing tennis but it is a really poncey sport. All very middle clarse If there more 'ordinary' people that played..instead of all these privately educated types I'd probably enjoy it more.
