A few of us are planning on going to watch England during France 2016. Just require some info on how best to organise this,
I'm sure a lot of you have been big tournaments before, this is our first time. we are not really planning on going to watch any games just to be around the stadium and in the fan park whilst England play.
we are only going to go for around a week, hopefully meaning
First question is, do we hire minibus and drive to were England are playing? or catch a flight and use public transport? 2 - accommodation, how difficult can it be getting hostels/hotels to were England are playing or, could we camp? 3 - what other issues will we occur 4 - any ideas would be welcome!! 5 - what can we plan in advance to save us cash/time

Been following England since 82 on and off, more recent tournaments including Brazil, Ukraine and South Africa.
For France though for a number of reasons we're going over there for 6 days and have applied for tickets for 3 games. Hotels booked up already, cheap as chips. Tickets are on sale now, you obviously don't know who will be playing and there's no guarantee you'll get the tickets you've applied for.
As for following England over in France, been there twice with England, both in the World Cup and for a friendly. France was ok for the games but it gets rammed with England fans with it being so close. Personally now I'm past being amongst 60k pissed up ticketless England fans. Unless you're in the England travel club and have already built up your caps, there's Bob hope of getting an England ticket, not unless you'll pay €500 to a tout. If you're thinking of going its best to get sorted now (cheaper anyway) and enjoy the football and atmosphere, tournaments are great. If you drop on an England game all well and good.

I and three friends are contemplating going to le france, never been abroad before but we are planning on catching thr euro star and heading to watch England, mingle in with the locals and have jolly good time with fellow fans. Maybe see if any other fans want to meet for a picnic in the francais countryside. It will be jolly fun

Have you thought abuot a campervan? People did it for '98 and looked a laugh. Doubt you’ll get England tickets but the best chance of getting tickets is by applying now til 10 July, but obviously you don’t know which games you'd get. I applied for Marseille and Lyon x2 tickets in each area, Qtrs and semis in Paris. The stadiums there look pretty decent.
Hopefully I dont win the total £2600 tickets I applied for. If I do I'll need people from here, any takers?

We've applied for two tickets for 7 matches all based in Northern France at the Category three 55 euros prices. Fingers crossed!

We went to Germany for the World Cup 2006. No tickets no idea where to go but but decided on city where some games were being played i.e. Dortmund. Absdolutely fantastic - England played nearby at Gelsenkirchen (fanfest bril).
So for France 2016 I'm planning with a few mates to find campsite in Northern France (so not so much driving) possibly stop at Lille, Rouen or even Paris Fans Fest / City Centre where there's going to be a BIG SCREEN lots of bars. If I can get ticket(s) in meantime then ok but if not nothing better.
So: 1. Check the dates on UEFA website 2. Book your hols 3. Check where there are fan-fests and just go. 4. Load up ale at Calais 5. Get pissed

Hi Guys,
Firstly thanks for your advice. very much appreciated.
After looking into it we have had afew ideas:
We are basically going to visit just 1 city in France for 6 days. However the city depends where England are playing first. Hopefully it will be Lyon and not Paris or Marseille. This will allow us to at least have the experience of attending an England game (even if it is outside of the ground). we are then going to apply for tickets for that city, fingers crossed we will get a couple and will be able to see a low key game.
The only questions left is:
1 - Which city's wouldn't you spend 6 days visiting. I assume all the cities will be fantastic but thought I would ask. 2 - best way to travel, plane or euro tunnel?
of course we are wanting to keep the cost down best as possible, but we don't mind forking out if it adds to the experience!. its a once in a lifetime opportunity so.
the campervan idea sounds great btw!, can you hire these out?. of course I understand this may be a lot more difficult to organise.
thanks again lads

Looking forward to hopefully seeing some Stokies there.

I applied for 3 games, two group games and one quarter final, got one of the group games. Cheers good luck with yours

I didn't get a single game (out of 9) - even though I had the option to upgrade selected for all of them. So I guess you only get the email now if you were successful. Fuck you Uefa and your bullshit random draw!! Fucking cunts.

There is a further draw in December for 'follow my team' tickets so don't give up hope yet Nope, I'm officially gutted. Travelling for 3 games in potentially completely random places and over a period of 10 days isn't possible for me. I think I'll just go to the fanfest in Lille for whatever game. So fucking unfair. (Well, not really I suppose but it sure as hell feels that way).
