Scholes is working his butt off don't you know... Yeah, he's just changed up 100 quids worth of Euros and purchased a leopard skin posing pouch for his holidays. He's non-stop. Thats not much use for a camping holiday in Dnipro is it?

Good that the Coates family recognise the fact that the majority of fans don't want to see the name Britannia disappear. I'm confident they'll win any copyright battle. The name Britannia was in common use in Britain for centuries before the, now defunct, building society started to use the name. I have high hopes that we'll eventually see either the bet365 (or a new sponsor's name) combined with Britannia - so we could end up with, for example, the bet365 Britannia. EDIT: I wonder if admin could run an Oatcake Poll to confirm whether the majority of fans do (as I suspect) want to retain the Britannia name as part of the stadium name? You know that you can create a poll. Yes I know that - but, if I did, I'd stick by the rules and put it on the Polls board - where hardly anyone would see it! If Admin create it they could pin it at the top of this board and it would get a much bigger exposure, more fans would vote and the result might actually be close to what fans' opinions really are. Ideally, there should be some agreement as to what the question(s) on it would be. as in all referenda and polls, the wording of the question can determine the result so whoever sets the question should try to avoid bias. The Sun once ran a poll on restoring Capital punishment. If you wanted to bring it back you filled in a coupon and sent it to a FREEPOST address. If you didn't want to bring it back you wrote a postcard or letter with your reasons and put a stamp on it and sent it to the paper. To no one's surprise 99.9999% of the UK wanted to bring back Capital Punishment according to the result published in the Sun!

Can't we create a trade mark called 'Britannia Stadium'?

Anything within reason so long as it doesn't have 'Arena' as part of its name. Football doesn't happen in arenas. Football happens in Grounds, Parks, Lanes and, at a push, Stadia. The word Arena has no business being attached to a football stadium or football team. It represents a pointless, soulless multipurpose entity devoid of any character. Arsehole Whinger belongs in an arena.... with lions n' shit.

That's exactly what it will be in my opinion, the Bet365 Britannia stadium Renaming using Bet365 generates no revenue for the club as they already own us, likewise you wouldn't think it offers bet365 anything they are already the biggest online bookie they don't really need the advertisement. The club are looking for outside investment that will generate the club big bucks for basically nothing. Unfortunately sentiment in football is dying out and I'm sure once an investor is found and offers enough they will have final say on whether the 'britannia' name remains. If we can't keep Britannia then a stadium revamp and name to Bet365 Arena / Stadium sounds decent enough to me. *bowke*

Sent from my C6603 using proboards hmmm disagree slightly, I see your point but Bet365 is a huge company that would benefit from naming rights, true it would do SCFC no good but I believe it would enhance Bet365 especially in Europe to have the naming rights on a premier league team that is top 10
You are right though Britannia could well go, hope not as it gives us a regal theme which I like

Leave it as the Britannia, what's the point in changing it now after 18 years? The hard reputation of playing there goes with that name.

I can't imagine the copyright issue relates to the 'name' of the stadium - moreso the branding on the outside of the stadium. Unfortunately, the club also used the Britannia Building Society's logo on all of the relevant documents, websites, letterheads etc. The stadium logo included the Britannia Building Society logo.
It's this use of the logo that I see as being the main stumbling block - as far as I'm aware, you can't actually copyright the word 'Britannia' (racking my brains from looking through Companies House documents).
If this is the case, unless the club get permission from the Co-Operative Bank to use the original Britannia Building Society logo, the club will have to dream up a new logo for the stadium - and we know how popular their last re-designed logo was..!
