Nicely done by the club to keep him supported through his recovery

Until he finds a new club. Ahh right. I love Wilko, but that's effectively money for nothing. Surely that could be better spent elsewhere?

No, not better else where. This is a player who has been with us for a long long time. Needs a bit of a hand until he finds a club and we are giving it to him. Great gesture and if its one person who deserves it, its Wilko.

Shows class from the club and sends out the message that we look after our players.(The signing of Rory, when he was in hospital with a badly broken leg, had a positive impact in footballing circles).

Newcastle United take note, this is how you treat one of your longest serving players, well done Stoke.

I'm not saying it's not a good gesture.
It is.
But he's a professional footballer, who has been paid handsomely throughout his career. I really don't think he needs a helping hand.
However, if it continues to enhance our reputation by giving these kind of deals, then I'm all for it.

It's a good thing all round if it's true.
Wilco needs a job, needs to stay fit and be available for transfer/loan
Stoke might well need back up for Bardsley if GCam becomes the new Nzonzi
As previously mentioned, this tells potential signings that we look after our players.

The phrase to describe this wonderful football club that we all love 'vis unita fortior'.
Wonderful gesture

Fantastic stuff, why are some people complaining about this? Because they're jealous bastards who never gave Wilko a chance based on the fact he's local, if he was Italian he'd have received a lot more support on this board. Top man who gave everything for his boyhood club and provided us with some fantastic memories in the process. This is another example of Stoke City being a class above since Coates came back.

See him through the rehab etc... But what exactly are we paying him for? Surely this money would be better spent trying to get new/better players in. It's not like he's skint is it even on £10-15k per week in the PL he'd be loaded...
Thankful for his service but just think it'd have been sufficient to deal with his rehab.

However, if it continues to enhance our reputation by giving these kind of deals, then I'm all for it. He's carrying an injury, so Stoke are allowing him to use the facilities and train to try and get him fit ready for the new season, and make him more attractive to a new club. The fact that they are paying him week by week, means they can stop once he is fixed up. Compare this to how Newcastle have handled themselves recently, and I for one am very proud of how my Club goes about it's business.

I very much doubt he is on his old terms either for all the miserable feckers on here
Bet its no more than a few grand a week - £5k max - which is fair
The tackles he made and commitment he showed got us where we are and the money we now have, stop being bellends.

Well done Stoke City. A club with class.
I would have loved it if Andy had scored a goal for us, that chance at Wembley against Bolton would have been a dream of a goal.
