Was hoping to and the potters arf in a couple of weeks, but I picked up a chest infection and ran London, made it worse, had antibiotics, started running again, did a training half last Sunday ready for a 20 this weekend but it won't go away and has now moved up into the sinus's, had fever symptons, now back on antibiotics, so I'm not running until it's cleared

Did London in a not too shoddy 4:40, and that was walking last 6 miles after tweaking my sodding left knee at 19 miles or would have been on for a 4:10:00 run. Since London, all training has been going fine & Liverpool half is less than 2 weeks away.

I managed it in 3.57, was hoping for 3.30-3.35 (did 22 miles in 3.00 in training) but the lurgy paid to it on the day, last 3 miles were a drag with no energy where normally I could speed up

Panicking a bit now though. Have I done enough etc? Think I may be tapering too much but I've got a few niggles that get more noticeable as every day goes by so I'm nursing myself to the start line!

Good luck with the Liverpool race. I did the half last year there, and apart from a head wind on the last few miles it was a cracking run. The thought of a finish line pint wets the appetite! (thumbsup)Try not to panic too much, and without sounding sadistic to any non marathon runners, juts try & enjoy it too! All the hard work and effort will be worth it. If you see any of the Blackpear Joggers from Worcester, then their will be a good chance that this Potter will be there or there abouts!

Proves one thing that all the planning in the world, and you can't plan for something on the day. !

One of the guys at my work is the 4 hour pacer for the Liverpool marathon, Alan from Spectrum striders, he did London in 3.28, and he retires in July at 65

My Sister's fiancé is doing it. He tried to rope me into doing it too, but I had to politely refuse as I don't want to die just yet.
