In yet another example of how they can develop classnessness into an art form, Newcastle have released the man who won his battle against testicular cancer and endured chemotherapy for secondary cancer, then comes on and scores the goal that confirmed their Premier League survival. Only 31, committed to the club, and could still do a job, probably a better job than many of the gutless wonders who populate the rest of their squad. Apart from demonstrating yet again how much Senior management at Newcastle do not understand that their club needs more heart, I'd like to think Stoke would not have treated one of their players like that. Aston Villa's management of Stylian Petrov has been much more a better example of how you should embrace such players.

Unbelievable.
But not surprising with their recent track record.

I can see them being rooted in 20th all next season. If ever a club needed "zeroing" through a spell in the lower leagues it's Newcastle. Even the caretaker manager John Carver has a touch of arrogance about him, those awful scenes of OTT celebrations at managing to finally win a game. Made for uncomfortable viewing.
Then they let Gutierrez go. Classy.

I'd expect nothing else from those classless bunch of deluded fuckfaces.
They'll be firmly in the mire next season, the only reason they stayed up this season is because of how utterly useless the bottom 3 were.

Really hope they go down next season! Think you could get your wish. Players will think twice about signing for Newcastle and up their money ask proportionately. Which Ashley won't pay. So they'll top up their squad with over paid under performing mercenaries, and we know how that ends up. Don't we QPR.

I know it's on a massively different scale but Sidibe was out and was almost certain to never fully play for us again but we let him stay to attempt to get him back to a point where he could play football again. Bojan gets a bad injury and his old club allow him to return to use their medical department to get him back to full fitness. Bojan's is obviously only one injury but it shows, however much I dislike them, how they look after their own. As mentioned (and a closer example) Villa's treatment of Petrov has been a far better example. I'd like to think a lot of other clubs would have the decency to allow players to stay around the club to give them the best possible chance to continue their careers. People, me included, criticise players for not showing loyalty to a club but it should be a two way thing.

No room for sentiment at that club, feel sorry for Jonas - he's the only Newcastle player I like

Even if they were unsure him, surely a 1 year contract to see if he can be the same player again is a good invesyment.
Some club will get a bargain there

To be fair clubs are not charities they are big business and I'm sure he's been paid well. He may well be released as a player but who knows what he may have been offered behind the scenes.

I would have released him too on football grounds but that sort of goes out of the window when Sammy Ameobi has a new deal.
