TP rumoured to be interested again, but how much do you think we need to be offered to let him go? £3M, or will it be stupid to let him go for such a small amount of money as he certainly is a plan B player in many ways?

He is settled, his wife is about ready to explode and he seems dead happy to be here. Can't see him forcing a move and why would the club sell a proven scorer for money we honestly don't really need. I'd be surprised if Crouch wasn't at Stoke after the two years he has agreed to on his contract, he hasn't got much pace or physicality to lose with age so I can't see his form deteriorating. Only injuries could end his time here now I would think.
What I'm trying, in a horribly convoluted way, to say... Is it doesn't seem beneficial to him OR the club. I don't see it happening!

I think he will stay and it will be great to see him get his 100th Premier League goal as a Stoke player. (ideally at the Brit)
Plan B is an important option for any club

it was a lazy piece of journalism which said TP may be interested because it had been noticed by West Brom how much Crouch had been on the bench towards the end of the season even though the main reason for this was his groin injury.

But can you really see us using him more next season? I really think Mame will cement his place as our first choice.

I personally dont think we will. I agree with you that Mame will be first choice. I was just pointing out how the Birmingham Mail had generated a story by adding 2 and 2 together and getting 5.

I think that's true mate but Crouch is...what 34/35 and still has an important part to play at a good Premier League club. I don't know him at all but get the feeling he is in a very happy place, earning decent money and is liked and appreciated at his club. He's got a great attitude and he's excellent to have in the dressing room. I don't think he wants to go anywhere and I don't think the club want him to. He's still very much part of our plans IMO.

But can you really see us using him more next season? I really think Mame will cement his place as our first choice. I'm not sure he wants to be our regular first choice starter. If he gets starts in the cups and sub appearances in several league games. he'll probably be content with that. He signed a new contract only a few weeks back knowing that Diouf was ahead of him in the pecking order. What can't be denied is that he genuinely does offer something different as a sub. He's starting to make a bit of a habit about doing a decent job towards the end of games both in terms of being able to get a goal and in terms of holding the ball up. He is still a great target man and I reckon he's got another two years at this level if used sensibly.

Love Crouch, and while it has slowed the team at times, the way teams have to change late in a game to account for him his valuable. While Diouf will likely further cement his role, Crouch is a damn good sub.

The big man stays for me. I don't think his sub appearances should always be to replace Diouf. I'm sure there are games where Crouch and Diouf on the park together up top would cause chaos. He's never pulled his face about being on the bench, he has very little, if anything, left to prove. He understands the concept of squad. Top man.

I think we'd be daft to sell him now. He's under contract with us, so there'll be no big final signing on fee for him personally. Can't see him going anywhere to be honest.

I think Pulis may very well have his work cut out next season with the Baggies. And we all know what happens when the going gets tough with Tony - he reverts to type and becomes super-negative, bonus games etc.
A binaryesque season could be on the cards at the Hawthorns.

I get the feeling that the goodwill has already left the Hawthorns. Be interesting to hear from a Baggies fan about the mood at West Brom.

Haven't looked at their board in ages, when I did it had all the hallmarks of a similar rift we had on here, have to see how things turn out, there's always the possibility he'll change his MO I suppose, as remote as that may seem for some of us.

Peter Crouch has been nothing but positive for Stoke City.
He's a great option off the bench and gives us an obvious aerial threat when he's on the pitch.
If he's happy to start only occasionally and be used increasingly off the bench then there's another couple of seasons in him IMO.

It's difficult to know how integral players are behind the scenes but you get the feeling he's a good egg, a positive influence and a great role model. He seems well like nationally/ internationally and therefore he promotes a positive image of the club and the area. It would be cool if we could continue to keep him involved in the club upto his career finale and beyond. Eventually I'd like to see a giant statue of him straddling the D-Road like a modern day Colossus of Rhodes but first lets see some more records tumble.

When Stoke put out the star-studded line-up at the beginning of the season, it was a mess. It took Crouch to keep us in points. If Hughes is right and his teams come good in the second half of the season, who is going to get you goals in the pre-Christmas? At the moment, the answer is Peter Crouch. Until you can come up with something better, than that letting him leave would be folly.

Did anybody else notice Crouchys run for the sixth against Liverpool ?
ohh yesss got to say that again
Sixth against Liverpool ----(ahhhhh still feels sooo gooodd)
watch him - people say hes slow --my arse !
he set off from the halfway line (more or less) at pace, if truth be told, to arrive in the perfect position to nod his goal
not bad for a 34 year old bloke needing a hernia op eh ?
2 more seasons of enjoying watching this truly class act - still good enough to start games as far as Im concerned - and- no wonder the baggies are after him
AND probably still, a better football player all round, than some people getting into that drivelling, bumbling, geriatric idiot's England Squad

2 million, 3 million whatever, he's a huge asset for us and we won't be selling him.
Fantastic at holding the ball and bringing others in to play, decent scoring record, good guy around the club by all accounts. Yes he's getting older but he hasn't ever relied on pace anyway, he's a clever footballer and he'll be like Sheringham and be a decent premier league player until he's 38/39.
