I was there for Arse game, tremendous performance by Stoke, I know someone above said the win against Liverpool on Sunday tops that because of Liverpools outlay and all more equal in the 60s/70s but to beat Arse even then was quite an upturn but to beat them by five was fantastic because they were the team to beat! So I couldn't say which was more impressive, except my son (don't know where I went wrong, he used to go Stoke with me) is a Liverpool fan and it's been a fun few days for me!

Was there, great day saying they went on to do the double. Next match after was Blackpool away, skinhead era, bit of an invasion of Blackpool,Pork-pie hats bought(or nicked) down the front and singing 'The whole world smiles with you,na na na na-na' hats waved in the air.Stoke filled over half the home end Kop that day.

I was there If memory serves right (and that seems to happen less these days) Arsenal were the team to beat, and we played them off the park. I think one of their players said before the game that Ritchie only scored with his head. So Big John got down on his hands and knees to nod one over the line. I was also there for the painful semi finals. There have been plenty of downs following Stoke, but they were near the bottom of the heap. Much better was when I went to Highbury on my own in (I think) 1975. Me and my better half were having a few days in London at the time. We'd got tickets for the theatre in the evening (Henry Fonda brilliant as Clarence Darrow) and I persuaded her that she needed a break from me talking about football for a couple of hours while I went to the game. She bought it an'all So I went to Highbury, put my money down (no tickets needed) and stood on the old Clock End. I could see a couple of bus loads of Stoke fans in the paddock, but that was it. I shouted for Stoke throughout and got some funny looks. And I when I'd finished jumping around after Huddy scored the winner I heard a voice say "I fort eed got a fanny arksent". Happy days

I was there with my dad.Terry Conroy scored a brilliant goal which won Goal of the Season, he played a little one-two with Greenhoff ( I think) and smashed it past Bob Wilson from about 35 yards... The wall pass or one-two as you described it was courtesy of Peter Dobing and perfectly weighted for Conroy to run on to and let fly but it was more like 25 yards than 35 yards. Time does play tricks on the memory. I was present at the game. The previous home game, we beat Leeds Utd -- Bremner, Giles, et al -- 3-0. They were marvellous times for a Stoke fan and Peter Dobing was having a fantastic season until three games after the Arsenal rout when Mick Mills broke his leg. I have always hated Mick Mills for that because he robbed us of Dobing at his best and what could have been a great season in the league for us. Still, we did get to the FA Cup semi-final, only to suffer heartbreak at Hillsborough. It seems like only yesterday. As much as I enjoyed Stoke's performance against Liverpool, six goals against any opposition is to be savoured, I think on balance the victory over Arsenal was better. Looking at Stoke's goals against Liverpool, two were individual opportunistic efforts that no side could defend against but the others were the result of atrocious defending. As others have said, Arsenal went on to complete the double, so it was also a bigger scalp. Liverpool are just another midtable Premier League side these days, although they do have delusions of grandeur. I can't help feeling something is wrong at that club and has been wrong for quite a few years, and Rodgers as manager isn't helping them.

I was there also, quite a day. The Ritchie goal was against Southampton in the game Osgood made his debut for them - I went with a Saints fan from uni who was confident of a win but we hammered them also from memory. This current Stoke team is on the way though, Saturday was brilliant!

I was there, sitting in Kiddies Corner of the old Butler Street Stand. I seem to remember this match being shown on Match of The Day (not the last game either!).

I remember the game, was John Farmer in cause the great Gordon Banks was injured . I remember starting my paper round that evening and looking at the results and wondered if it was a misprint.

The Arsenal game was my first ever Stoke match (aged 7). Of course I didn't really appreciate how special it was and don't remember much detail clearly, although when I heard Banks wasn't playing I assumed one of the oufield players would be reluctantly forced to go in goal. I doubt I'll ever see a better Stoke performance. Beating Liverpool on Sunday was great but they are nowhere near being the most successful team in the country.

I was there, it was my first season as a season ticket holder at the age of 7
I cant remember that much about the game I think my memory has got tainted by the MOTD highlights.
Memory is a strange thing.
I remember other games more vivdly from that season including George Best's 2 goals at the Boothen End, I clearly remember Eric Skeels losing the ball to him on the edge of the box and just knowing that he was going to score. I also remember Stuart Jump's goal against Blackpool for some reason. I think its cause I didn't rate him that much as a player much but always liked the idea of him doing well for us.
I remember the 3-3 at home to Huddersfield in the cup.

I was there!! Anyone remember thrashing Southampton by the same score??? Peter Osgood had said that Big John Ritchie could only head a ball and was crap in open play. The big man received the ball about 30 yards from goal, beat a couple of defenders, rounded the keeper, stopped the ball on the line, got on his hands and knees and pushed the ball over the line with his head!!!!! when he was running back to the centre he flashed a wry grin to Ossie as if to say "Fuck you sunshine!" Pure theatre.

One of my first Stoke games age 6. Sat in the third row up of the Butler Street Stand near to the corner next to The Boothen. Can't remember much apart from TCs goal & eating a pie before the game.

I was there aged 14. In the Stoke end with my grandfather who took me everywhere. Strangely I found the Liverpool win more satisfying. Perhaps because of where we have been in between and the perceived gulf now between the "top sides" and the rest. After all on the morning of the Liverpool game the bookies made us massive outsiders.

I were there, too. 15 years old in the Stoke End. Crowd was only about 22,000 from memory. Conroy's goal was the pick of the bunch. (You used to be able to watch the last four goals on a YouTube clip but I think it's been removed). Bertie Mee said afterwards that Stoke would have beaten anyone that day.

I tell a lie - the YouTube clip is still there and it features all five goals, not four. The one-two for Conroy's goal, by the way, involved Dobing, not Greenhoff. And a great first goal by Ritchie and a cheeky chip by Greenhoff to complement Conroy's effort, too.

Strangely had forgotten about it but mention of PMT strike brought it back as we walked to the match. Boothen End as always.

I was there in usual spot towards back Boothen End - just left of centre looking towards pitch. I was 15 years old and am glad it can be re-ived in You Tube. I think the crowd was about 18,500. Stoke would have beaten anybody that day including possibly the current team?

If I remember correctly, that was around the time that Bob Wilson had a punditry spot on tv where he analysed goals etc from recent matches, and I remember someone on the Stoke End shouted 'talk us that one then, Bob' as each of the goals rattled past him into the net!! Happy Days! d.
