12 goals for the season, which is as many as Wayne Rooney and Graziano Pelle; one more than Danny Ings and Wilfriend Bony; two more than Romelu Lukaku. If you look at those above him, only Austin, Benteke and Berahino we could realistically afford.
Add to that the fact that none of them have been penalties either, as well as him being played out on the wing for a chunk of the season, and I think he's been a fantastic signing for us. Would undoubtedly allow him to be the focal point of our attack next season. I see no reason why he can't improve on that and be knocking on 14-15 goals in the next campaign.
It's all to easy to say we need a striker who can 20+ goals in a season, but in the Premier League they are few and far between. I think we would arguably need somebody as back-up who is happy to be a rotation player along with Peter Crouch but can come in and make an impact. If we don't get that, then I won't be too disheartened as we have Diouf, Crouch and then the likes of Odemwingie and Bojan who could also potentially play in that role if needed.
I'd be the first to hold my hands up and say I was wrong about Diouf from the first couple of games and it shows the importance of allowing a player to settle in. He's been fantastic this season and long may it continue.

Do we have a song for him? For some reason, there doesn't seem to be much of a connection between him and the fans. He's been superb.

12 goals in a season when you've been played out wide and been to the AFCON is a great achievement and one which we should all appreciate.

I have to say we moan about putting him on the wing but his worst goals-per-game return is somehow at striker! I really like him regardless so it doesn't really matter I guess www.whoscored.com/Players/26013For reference. An overall return of 10 goals in 28 starts (not counting sub goals and starts) That's better then 1 in 3, an excellent return.

He looks clumsy as fuck on the ball but he knows where the net is and he works his bollocks off, can't ask for much more from a free signing.
Goarn Mame.

He reminds me a bit of if you crossed together Mama, Fuller and Beattie. A great big awkward player with an unbelievable work rate, with pace to spare and that knack of being in the right place at the right time. I really, really like him.
I don't think you can beat N'Zonzi today, but his performance was just as important. It wasn't just about his goals, or his assist. It was about the fact that he tirelessly led our pressing from the front, from the first whistle to the moment Crouch came on. He never gave their defenders a minute's rest and was a large part of the reason why Sakho, Can and Skrtel all had such a torrid time. He was marvellous.

Rapidly becoming one of my favourite players. Aside from the goals, there's just something immensely likeable about him. He cares.

He was very good today, mind you so was everyone in a Stoke shirt and his goal return for the season has been good, especially when compared to the supposed big name strikers with less to their names. I thought today he seemed to bond better with the rest of the team too. It bodes well for next season and hopefully an even more productive year. That said, I still hope we sign another striker to complement him. Well done Mame.

His assist for crouchie was a great cross that any top winger would be proud of.
15+ goals for him next season

11 PL goals - most ever by a Stoke player. Not bad for a free transfer.

Therefore...he must be.

He definitely has the nack of being in the right place at the right time but he's so awkward on the ball. That run he made first half which was about 50 yards I don't think he had the ball under control at all.
I do however like him and the stats don't lie he's had a very good first season.

You've been giving him stick all season..... I actually think he's improving all the time and could be our 15 goal striker next season.

I don't get this 14 to 15 goals is a tally our strikers should be aiming for, Diouf has shown himself by playing out of position he is easily capable of 15 if given a solid stint as striker, we create a lot of chances these days, I'd be dissapointed if our strikers didn't score 15 goals a season if that position wasn't rotated so much. Austin has proved what a good striker is capable of in a poor team, put that guy in our team and he scores over 20 goals easily on this seasons form, we create more chances for starters
This premier League really isn't as tough as it's made out to be, we are as good as anything going forward outside the top 5, we just need to be more consistent and stop giving away sloppy goals
