From sending off Bobby Moore to chasing a player 70 yards with his red card behind his back. He was removed from the League list after sending three Plymouth players off during a game at Port Vale! Yes, I am bored at work. Apparently, after he sent off the drum major of the marching band, the FA had to write to all referees to say red cards were only to be used for players and managers. |

I remember that match the whole of the Stoke contingent were just waiting for the ticking bomb to go off, and boy did it. Remember getting bricked at half time whilst trying to buy a cuppa out the back of the stand.
Don't think McNally was the worst ref ever, that for me would be Pat Partridge, now he was a complete twat.

Didn't he get prosecuted for fraud or smuggling? He has to be the worst, how many other referee's performances do we remember after all these years? I was there and it was horrendous.

Remember the game well. The days of Bob Lord when teams playing in red and white stripes and the name starting with S got players sent off at the Turf. Lord was something to with league committee which was no coincidence:)
A couple of years later I remember a large Stoke following going onto the pitch and chasing the Burnley fans out of the ground due to another poor decisions going Burnley's way.
