A question for the thespians amongst you.
In the final scene of last weeks Mad Men an actress shed a tear. Am I correct in thinking that the tear was probably added using digital editing techniques after the scene was shot. How do actors cry at appropriate parts in a scene if my suspicion is not correct ?
Also, in live theatre are there any techniques used to make the actors cry when it is required in a play ?

Dunno about live theatre, but I'm pretty sure the make up people add some kind of eye drops when tears are required.

I think for blokes it's a squeeze of the knackers. For women I wouldn't like to say

It's easy if you're old enough to remember being beaten by Port Vale on more than one occasion.

Women have always been able to turn the tears on, but the men of today are just as good.
