Norway are part of the European Economic Area. This means they have to adhere to nearly all EU trade laws, while having no say in how those laws are created. If this is the solution, it's one that creates a bigger problem. Yes - it creates such a massive problem for them they have to scrape by with having the highest standard of living in Europe! They have that because they saved their oil money wisely, and are now reaping the dividends. We spunked it all away as soon as we got it, so the party in government could have the short-term gain of an improved economy at the time. Whether they were in the EEA, EU, or the African Union, they would've generated this wealth anyway.

Surely they do it because it makes sense and has benefits that outweigh the 'bigger problems' you speak of?! It suggests that the UKIP position is correct.

So no deals with Europe at all? The world would be our oyster ..europe is still in the world isn't it? .....we would have far more bargaining powers because they want us as much, if not more....if we left you can bet that a few others would want to too. Don't think for one minute things are all rosey with countries in the EU.... .britain looking outward instead of inward.....free to do deals with the world instead of being trapped in an economic prisom you say being in gives us powers...it may be like that on paper but Britain has no powers within the EU......we are scorned upon even when Brown made his big United europe speach in Brussels and signed over a huge chunk of the UK ......they still took turns to stand and fire volley after volley at us for not signing up to the euro and handing over everything make no mistake Germany is the driver with France map reading......we will always be just passengers In terms of trade with Europe, I don't think too much trade would be lost by withdrawing. I think we'd be about the same. The problem comes when negotiating with non-EU, non-Commonwealth countries. Why would countries like China and the US do a favourable deal for us just to get access to our market of 65m people, when they are offering us marketplaces of 1.3bn and 260m respectively? It's the equivalent of starting up a business with someone, bringing 10% of the capital, and expecting a 50% stake. I've heard many arguements I disagree with on the EU, but until now they have at least been logical. But vote UKIP making the UK a more outward-looking country? Fuck me, that's a gem. If you think voting UKIP will make us a more outward-looking country, then I'd love to hear all the examples of countries electing nationalist governments where that happened?

The UKIP position is correct for Norway, a country with vast financial reserves. In 2013, the Norway finance minister said that the country had so much money that they literally didn't know where to invest it. The sums of money were so large that wherever they invested it could completely skew the marketplaces. If you can show me we have the same problem, I'll start campaigning to leave the EU.

Given that we have oil and fisheries similar to Norway plus innumerable other advantages then we should have the same problem. People voting to retain the status quo will ensure that we won't.
