He will be gone in the summer. Keeping them up is not really a big challenge as they were never in any danger really.

If you lose seven out of nine games with one draw and are heading towards Christmas then you are in deep trouble Joe, in any case the Chairman must have thought so and he's the man that counts. He was manager at Christmas. In Irvine's last game they weren't looking too bad at all. True they lost BUT there was plenty to suggest they would find some form. Irvine never lost the aura of being an unpopular appointment. That was the problem for him.

Having been born and lived in North Staffs all my life Mark why would I go onto an Albion Fans Forum? My interest in Pulis relates to his achievements for Stoke and my concern at the time that his departure might have led to a decline at the club, something that has clearly not happened. If Albion fans turn on Pulis and he is sacked that's there problem and his, certainly not mine. I would however like to think that the Pulis legacy at Stoke will be treated with respect as the years go by, something which I think most Stoke fans will agree with. As for Pardew he has done a remarkable job, I won't say miracle because I know that is a word you believe should not apply to football and football managers. So you are a born and bred resident of North Staffordshire who has informed us that he does not support Stoke City but has enough interest in Tony Pulis to know how many hairs he has on his arse. If I have you right, you originally claimed to have arrived as defender of fair play towards Mr Pulis and have outstayed him by two years already to protect his legacy? Its an interesting situation to contemplate to say the least especially given the time you devote to it. What are we to make of you?

I am a Stoke City supporter Mark, I cannot recall saying I wasn't although I have said I am not now attending games and therefore wouldn't class myself as a die hard fan.
If I did use the phrase that I am not a supporter then I'm confused as to why I would have said that, perhaps I was trying to stress my view of Pulis was neutral and not biased in any way.

I'm off to watch United/City, I will make a determined effort in future not to comment on Pulis/ West Brom threads but to save my tributes for our current manager, although no guarantees.

I'm sure the thread was originally about wether West Brom would survive or not. I don't know Geoff but that's what he replied to, forgive me, but why are people turning this into a who does Geoff support thread. I am a little confused.

I haven't looked through your posts, but it seems to me that you only ever post here when Pulis is discussed, or to take a minority stance over a disputed penalty. And of course, refs are never wrong.

They weren't in any real danger when they got rid of the old manager and they aren't in any real danger now.

I haven't seen you on any of the recent thread discussions about Newcastle Town, Geoff?

West Brom are already safe, even if they lost every game.

West Brom are already safe, even if they lost every game. Still think they'll finish above Stoke March? Actually, if they did lose every match, Pulis would finish the season with one less point than Irvine won. Looking at their remaining fixtures, even if he manages to win more points than Irvine it's not going to be by a lot.

Bit unexpected and very un-Pulis-like little run. 5 defeats in the last 6 with no surprises where the win came. And, as has been said, they could easily lose all their remaining games.
Doubt they'll go - but the honeymoon period is well and truly over which isn't great as can't imagine he was flavour of the month to start with.

West Brom's recent collapse doesn't really show our gutless surrender there a few weeks back in a good light does it?

West Brom's recent collapse doesn't really show our gutless surrender there a few weeks back in a good light does it? Not so sure about. It was a poor day for us but you could say that their victory over us came at the end of a run which saw them beat Swansea, Southampton and Stoke in the league at home (and West Ham in the cup). A very decent run which will end up keeping them up.

But we didn't have a meaningful attempt on goal against a team that went on to concede 10 goals in their next three games, two of which were against the worst and second worst teams in the division on the days they played them. It was a rancid, indefensible effort.

It was also against a team who'd previously kept six clean sheets in the seven home games their new manager had taken charge of, and the shots on target stats were pretty much the same as Swansea's and Southampton's. You'll have to decide whether the Stoke game was the end of one run or the beginning of another.
