Just finished reading the chapters on stoke here. Some things of note:
- When the club went to America for pre season he, tonge and some others were given economy class tickets whilst the rest of the squad went first class. - His relationship with TP And the club really soured towards the end - Didnt really mention 'towel-gate' - It seemed as though it was his favorite time at any club - The Arsenal players often refused to shake hands after a game, something no other team has done.
Its available digitally now on the iTunes store if anyone wants. Ive probably read about 2/3 but focused on the stoke bit. Its ok, good to hear something direct from people at the club at the time though

It still saddens me that Higgy missed out on the two Wembley appearances that his part in our progress as a club fully deserved.
I'll always admire the way he tucked away that penalty against Spuds ,while his West Sham Quarter Final free kick will forever be etched on my memory.

He would have been first on the team sheet. He was terrific that season.

Interesting about what he says about Ryan - Cahill and Jageilka are better players.

Didn't he bugger off back to Sunderland for a spell before realising we were the better club? On his Twitter feeds he drools over Man U too much for my liking. that would get home economy class to America is I was buying the tickets. Seems like a nice chap, mind.

Ditto - when the Wet Ham goal went in I genuinely thought my head was going to explode! Had to sit the rest of the game in the upper tier concourse, pacing around... I was that nervous - couldn't watch Despite leaving Stoke at seemingly every available opportunity - I will always be grateful to Higgy for that goal. Dreamland

Have to be honest, he was never my favourite player.
When he came to us he was finished, we sorted him out, got his head right and helped him get some some form. It was clear from TP's first season back that Stoke were a club on the way up and he couldn't piss off quick enough to Sunderland, only returning when we, and TP, were the only ones prepared to pay his Premier League wages.
I know he's got a good media profile these days, and the best of luck to him, but he's filed under bang average for me.

Caught his shirt at Liverpool away first season in the PL after drawing 0-0, so always liked him! Don't rate his punditry as much as some though

Agents in your ear telling you how big a favour you're doing a club just by being there and hawking you around for your next payday. It's become something of an issue with some managers that they prefer certain agents as a result because its mutually beneficial and you then sort of have a 2 pronged attack to keep a player at the club. As the agent is banking on there being future deals as well.

For everything that was good about TP, things like this will always leave a sour taste in my mouth with regards to his time as manager. Regardless of how much of a role these players had in your side at the time, surely for squad morale you should all travel together as equals. For a manager that seems to pride himself on team spirit and siege mentality, he didn't have single players out and push them to one side!

Yep he is a bit obsessed with Man U To be fair, he's a Manchester lad and United fan who came through the ranks of his boyhood club. Can't really blame him for being a bit pro-ManU. I'm sure if it 20 years time Ollie Shenton is banging on in the media about how great SCFC are, we won't be moaning! Still think he'd make my Stoke Prem XI side at LB. Might not have been a natural but think he's still been the best we've had so far. Need to see a bit more from Pieters and for him to be a little less injury-prone before i'd slot him in in front of Danny Higginbotham.

Whenever he's giving tactical advice to Stoke it's invariably 'sit deep and invite them on' regardless of whether we've got Chelsea or Burnley.

I would hope it was simple clerical error that Tonge and Higgy were maligned and made to sit in Economy while others sat first class. Seems wholly against what TP stood for as far as team unity. Odd

I would imagine that his relationship with TP and the club began to sour when some fourth division centre back started plodding about in his position for a couple of seasons, giving away two goals every time he played.
