Burnley is indeed a similar area to Stoke and its people share many similar traits. As football supporters, they're more akin to Vale than Stoke, which given they are historically a bigger club than Blackburn, I've always found strange. Many of them seem to hate Blackburn more than they love their own club. I love where we live but I can't stand Burnley football club or their supporters that I've come into contact with. I do know 3 decent ones though, but I also know a couple of decent Fail fans. I even know a decent Manure fan, even a Wolves fan. Locally, I give my support to Accrington. From my experience, I think generalisations about the supporters of any club tend to be misleading and wide of the mark. I think what we have in common as football fans is far more significant. Even Arsenal????

Davejohnno1, I have the same issues with Blackburn fans that you have with BFC and also find PNE a strange bunch. Blackburn have never been a big club nor will they ever be one. They had their moment in the sun and I'm sure many became very annoying during that period...a bit like fail fans really.

How do you know did you go Blackburn,no didn't think so Mmm...how to respond to that? Did I go to Blackburn? Yes I did. I don't tend to miss any game that isn't televised. If it isn't a televised away fixture, you'll generally find me at the game. How do I know? The facilities director of Burnley football club, the man in charge of matchday operations, is a good friend of mine and he told me. I saw the thread and asked him. We will get around 2200 tickets because some of the away section is being given to home fans for games against us and Leicester. I humbly suggest that your reliable source is full of shit or a figment of your imagination.

I should also add that the only way we'll get more tickets than is currently the case is if the Burnley take up for the Leicester game is poor.
When they're offering 20 tickets for £250 in the local community the chances of our allocation changing is slim to none and if it does, it will have nothing to do with supporter behaviour at forthcoming visits to Chelsea, West ham and Swansea, which will be impeccable given that only the real die hards will be in attendance.

I'd much prefer Burnley, a club owned by a Brit, with a British manager, and predominantly British players to be in the Prem than the likes of North East giants Sunderland, or West London fuckwits QPR, these clubs think the world owes them something. At least Burnley have an identity, all the best to them I say.

From my experience, I think generalisations about the supporters of any club tend to be misleading and wide of the mark. I think what we have in common as football fans is far more significant. Even Arsenal???? Absolutely. There are some very good gooners who are activists in the FSF (far more than from Stoke City as it happens) and I enjoy meeting up with Arsenal friends when we play there. I think stereotyping of fans from particular clubs is both inaccurate and also unhelpful when it comes to trying to get united action on supporter issues.

What about the manager, Dave? I've genuinely never heard anyone say they don't like him. I don't. His voice goes through me like finger nails on a blackboard. I have to switch him off whenever any of his interviews go any further than "hello". Clear your throat or see a doctor FFS!

"Very good Gooners", now there's an oxymoron if I ever I saw one. Bit like using the phrase "happily married."

Id happily socialise and enjoy the company of all true football supporters regardless of their allegiances. I still hope we beat Burnley and send them down in the process.

Hello Burnley fan here.
I've read this forum on and off for the last few years and Davejohnno1 is still as hilarious as ever when it comes to all things Burnley. I'm just surprised he hasn't got London into our catchment area considering we have a London Supporters club and he managed to get Blackburn and Preston into it (titter titter). I'm convinced a Burnley lass cheated on him and he's now very bitter.
The last time we were in the Premier League (as you probably know) we had home supporters in part of the Cricket Field Stand (away stand) and it was seen as a success atmosphere wise. This time in the Burnley boards wisdom they decided to ramped up the walk on prices to around £40 and stuck a £100 retainer on folk buying new season tickets. They are the reasons for the home ends not being full.
Supporters clubs have been badgering the CEO to let home fans in the Cricket Field this season and finally due partly to our newish Chief Operating Officer David Baldwin they've listened. Although I would say that it is probably partly down to them thinking that Leicester and Stoke wouldn't fill the whole away end.

The only hilarious thing is you saying that stoke and Leicester wouldn't fill your poxy away end with painted wooden seats. Don't worry though...i'll help boost your crowds on occasion next season when you find yourself back in the championship. Ps...I've never once dated a lass from Burnley and I don't intend to start now.

Come on Dave read it properly, 'I' never said anything about Leicester or Stoke not filling the away end. It's no wonder you are good with sweeping generalisations when you struggle to understand people.
The last time that I visited the Britannia there were only 10,000 home fans on but let's not think that support fluctuates for certain clubs depending on how well they are or aren't doing.
In my mind I have a list of what I call 'proper' clubs and Stoke has always been on that list. Please don't shower me with praise though because I'm not one of the three Burnley fans that you have met that are any good.

All well and good to knock Burnley for their crowds. Only 90k live there and I'd guess a fair few of them, and how should I put this, are probably more into Cricket. That is the biggest myth around. Burnley is a small town, just like Stoke is, but the catchment area of the surrounding areas are huge...burnley, barrowford, barnoldswick, Nelson, Accrington, Rawtenstall, even Skipton, Blackburn and Preston are areas in which Burnley pull support from in a catchment area that is far greater than Stoke on Trent. I thought Stoke was a city of a quarter of a million? My mistake, and my apologies to Dave and any other supporters of Stoke Town FC.
