Sitting top of Div 2 and looking good for promotion. Obviously there is no history between our clubs, but as they are in Staffordshire do we consider them local, next season could see 3 local teams playing each other, though Burton would probably consider themselves more of an East Mids club.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbank getting promotion as their manager may keep Sol Campbell quiet for a few weeks

I'd like to think they're Staffs, but truth is they're ram-$#@&&ers

Hasselbank seems like a good manager from what I've read but I suppose remains to be seen if he's still the same good manager in the upper echelons of the football league

Cheek! I'm a Burtonian and a stokie of 52 years standing! Albion used to play in the old Southern League so most Burton people support the sheep bestialists otherwise known as shaggers!

At least Jimmy Floyd is earning his stripes at a lower league club and working his way up the managerial ladder.
Take note Sol. If you keep your fucking gob shut and learn your trade you might get somewhere in life and people might respect you.

Yes, I admire great players who are prepared to start at or near the bottom of the League pyramid when they go into management - a nice contrast with people like Shearer who seem to think that, because they were great players, they have the all credentials needed to start at or near the top when it comes to management. More fool the owners of Premier League clubs who are daft enough to employ them. Even our own manager (whose clubs have always been in the Prem) cut his teeth in the relatively lowly (in international terms) job of managing Wales before moving into club management.

Living in Uttox and having studied in burton, I go to a few Burton games when it doesn't clash with Stoke.
They sing about being in Staffordshire and have an anti Vale song. Decent bunch.
They're punching above their weight already in terms of their fan base and their table position, so if they go up it will be an achievement and a half.

I've not seen them under Hasselbank yet. Always good to drop by if Stoke aren't playing. Easy to get to, £1 to park by the ground, £15 to stand, non threatening place to turn up, and oh yeah the team aren't bad either.

Last time I saw them they were fucking dreadful but I gather from mates who are ST holders they've generally been pretty good. I suppose you don't get to the top of the table at this time of year by being shite. As for any history with us then no but Burtonians are very definitely Staffies. I think it's accentuated by being right on the border. There's a very definite rivalry with the Derbyshirites especially the Swadites. Unfortunately the ones who aren't Albion fans are mainly Sheepshaggers although of late there are more and more Stoke colours displayed, I suppose it's less embarrassing than it used to be and people are moving further afield than they used to, less parochial. I used to think I was the only Stoke fan in Burton for years.

I think the link to Derby is through Don Amott as much as anything. He was Derbyshire CCC and also big at Burton. Stan Clarke had connections with both too and that was one reason he had no interest in getting personally involved at Stoke. Over recent years managers seem to have links too. Clough, Pesch, Rowett. JFH is a break from this recent tradition.
