Just noticed that Arnie scored for Austria last night, that must be his first goal this season.Don't get too excited lads it was in injury time and Austria were already 4 goals up.Hope he played well though as he will probably start against Chelsea with Moses out.

He does seem to do better for Austria then he does for us, strange one He scored for us against Wrexham. Which is about the same standard as the opposition had faced in this game. So much international football these days is an appalling standard; mismatch qualifiers or meaningless friendlies. When he plays for Stoke every league game is a tough gig; not so for Austria.

Liechtenstein is not a Premier League Club. Brazil isn't either. Against Brazil he consumed like 3 right defenders.
For his assist against Liechtenstein he showed his notorious first touch and pace as well as remarkable precision. For his goal, the team manager pointed out, he didn't just kick the ball as hard as he can but showed some technique instead. Which implies he tended to do the former. I like to think that this goal marks a step forward.

He does seem to do better for Austria then he does for us, strange one I can tell you one simple reason for that circumstance: He has David Alaba on his side in the midfield!!....they harmonize both very well, producing a very attractive short pass combination football In the Austrian team he has had his fix place in the squad for years (left wing) and the team plays mostly with the same players on their positions, this resulting in the success the Austrian team has now. At Stoke many things have changed this year in the offensive (new players, Marko had to turn to the right side because of a well playing Victor Moses on the left) and it seems to me that Marko still has to find his right place in the squad. Hope, he can soon deliver the same performance as he does in Austria and will have successfull years at Stoke City. Trust in him, and he will!!! Come on Arni, come on Stoke!!!

He has either Alaba or Fuchs as an overlapping wingback next to him for Austria. So he gets more time and space on the ball. With Stoke he picks it up on the halfway line and struggles to produce anything. It's no coincidence that he comes alive late on in games when we push the fullbacks forward.
