I think it's quite a good name! The only City that the press recognise is in Manchester, so Stoke Potters would be ok by me.

Looks like there is nothing to stop it now. Not necessarily. If a new application is submitted then a new decision will have to be made taking account of this panel's rejection of one of the criteria used in the original decision. But that doesn't mean that the next decision will necessarily reverse the original decision. It is a bit like a criminal case which goes to retrial on a point of law - quite often the verdict in the retrial is the same as the original verdict.

Malcolm Clarke was strong criticised for thinking that the opinions of the supporters matter more than whether or not some bloke in China might buy a Hull shirt or not.

Surely it isn't a shock to them that the chairman of the FSF is going to put (as it should be!) supporters interests first?

They were going out of business before this bellend took over. On that basis, he can call them what he likes.
When we were on the brink in the late nineties, if they wanted to call us the Stoke Vikings, I would have taken it.

The person representing the voice of football supporters on the FA Council was criticised for representing the voice of football supporters!

You should know by now that, where the FA are concerned, normal everyday common sense goes out of the window.

That reads to me that Malcolm said they were WRONG just to think that the opinion of the supporters is the only issue and that other points SHOULD be considered.

It does read like that on the Sky link, but not the BBC one. I think the BBC one is more accurate (on this occasion!).

Malcolm is correct to say that its wrong to only consider supporters opinion.
Mental Mo is the main man.
If there is any justice in the world then the owner should get his way.

Hull Tigers sounds pathetic. Like a sodding kids team or an attempt to start up a MLS team. As to us changing our name to Stoke Potters...how very speedway. Were Stoke City and I'm so glad we have the sensible chairman and board that we do have. Besides imagine singing "potters, potters, tell the lads in red and white...."

I guess I am old fashioned but it should remain Hull City, Cardiff should play in blue and be known as the Bluebirds and we will always be Stoke City. I could never ever stomach a name change for us, I couldn't give a hoot what anyone from the press thinks.
I don't really like Hull, it goes back to our promotion dual in 07, but I would feel sorry for them on this, Supporters should stand together

It matters to some/most Hull City supporters
However I always refer to them as Hull. Newcastle United are Newcastle. West Ham United are West Ham etc
There is a thread somewhere on here re the old nicknames for clubs which back in the day meant just as much as the official name but most have disappeared

It seems to work OK in Rugby League. Warrington Wolves, Castleford Tigers, Wigan Warriors, Catalan Dragons, etc. Don't think it matters one iota, fans support the team, not the name. The times they are a changing. Nothing stays the same for ever. Stoke Potters sounds OK, even better if it generated shed loads of money for new players.

Exactly how would changing our name generate shed loads of money? In Hull's case, their owner is an idiot who wants to change their name. I doubt if the Coates family feel that a change of name to Stoke Potters would make it worth their while to invest more if the name was changed and I doubt even more if it would persuade even one potential buyer to step forward or one new sponsor to decide to sponsor the club.

BET365 has a certain ring to it! It wouldn't stop me going, especially if it meant a few more players from our spanish feeder club.
