A great gesture from WWFC supporter to show we dont all need violence at football to sustain our lives and prove the majority of football fans want nothing to do with these thugs. www.gofundme.com/o8itrk

It's very sad that we seem to be going back to the bad old days. Such a shame that some on here seem to think its ok and would rather blame stewarding and the Police. Fingers crossed he pulls through and well done to the true supporters for setting it up.

Desperate news, lets' hope that the attackers are tracked down and severely punished and banned from Football forever
I do hope that he is able to make a full recovery

Did they throw a brick at him, cause that's their usual trick, indiscriminate throwing...

Something like this should not be attached to a football team or their real supporters - just mindless thugs. Wishing the Watford fan a speedy recovery.

With this and Villa fans invading the pitch, it looks like we are regressing as a football society. The lunatic who is letting flares off at Stoke matches needs to be stopped before someone is hurt. I was engulfed in red smoke at the Newcastle match.
I hope and pray the Watford fan recovers; we don't go to matches to get injured. Our thoughts are with him and his family, who must be shocked and desperately upset.

For some time now I have repeatedly asked the Oatcake admin to delete or move threads that are or become about bigging up football violence.
I have over the last 2 years given up as I felt that my comments fell on deaf ears.
I'm sickened by the so called fans that come on here with "I miss the old days", "great tear up" "do you remember when we took the ... end" etc etc etc....
There is nothing glorious about violence and this very sad case demonstrates this.
Perhaps the admin team would like to formulate a policy in regard to violence related threads and make a positive stand against it rather than the usual “it’s part of our history” response??
I await without holding my breath.

No taking about racism, sexism or any other ism? If you don't like it don't read it and not one person on this board would say there us anything good about this latest attack. Get a grip!

Like it or not, freedom of speech and a free press is the cornerstone of our society, it's part of what makes this country one of the leaders of the free world. Censorship, even for the best of reasons can only be a dangerous road...

Who is it that you have in mind on this thread - name them and shame them. As far as I can see everyone who has expressed an opinion has condemned the attack on this bloke. Fingers crossed that he makes a full recovery and that the culprit gets found, tried, jailed and when he (or she) is released never gets allowed into a football game again.

LP don't think PSM was referring to this thread in particular just generalising about threads that seem to condone football violence or refer to 70s-80s violence as being somehow acceptable. Perhaps not the best thread to be discussing this though. Hope the Watford fan pulls through.

Everyone has been respectful towards the victim. Whilst I sympathise with PSM's views, as I hate any posts which suggest that football violence is, or ever was, acceptable - starting that debate (or argument) on this thread is counterproductive in my opinion.

i prefer to wait for the full story before i get on my high horse and pre judge people. Who is judging anyone in this thread? I believed it was started because a fellow Stoke supporter had read the newspapers, heard on the news, social media or by some other method that a fellow football fan who had travelled with five friends to go to support their team had been attacked and had not returned home to his loved ones as he was critically ill in hospital something that could happen to any one of us any time we attend a game. My horse awaits

No doubt the Watford fan has been attacked and no doubt whoever did it should be punished. But you are right in one respect, as far as I know it hasn't even been proven yet that it was football related let alone who did it. But somebody did and he (or she) Wolves fan or not a Wolves fan, should be caught, tried and punished if/when convicted.

I say this without the slightest hint of any animosity towards wolves but do Watford have football hooligans? I don't ever recall a bad incident involving Watford fans and every visit we've had there, you would be hard pressed to pick a fight, so nice are their supporters. Watford must surely be one of the friendliest, nicest, most welcoming set of supporters in the country.
