I would try converting him into a footballer first. Absolutely. You must have beaten me and thousands of others to the punch with this one.

MLS mate. Aka Major League Soccer. I will be at the match in person Sunday at the Citrus Bowl to see Brek unleashed on NYFC. I pity those sky blues ... Sorry mate, but the best you can say about Brek Shea is that he's very, very ordinary. I saw him play for Stoke in a pre-season friendly against Philadelphia last summer. He did score a goal; other than that he was unimpressive. Every other time I've seen him play for the US or Dallas he has been disappointing. He was hyped up by the press and his agents and Stoke paid way over the odds as a result. The MLS is roughly equivalent to the Football League Championship. Shea could not make the grade on loan at Birmingham (a Championship team) or at Barnsley (one level below). So I'll be very surprised if he makes the grade on his return to the MLS, especially in a first-year expansion team I'd love to be proved wrong because the MLS needs good home-grown players, but I wouldn't hold my breathe. That said, I hope you have a good season. Looking foward to Sporting Kansas City's home opener against the Red Bulls this weekend. Well I won't be surprised when WVU wins the Big 12 Championship!

I was also at the Philly match, thought he did quite well that day. I met a few stokies there. Great guys!
How closely tied are Stoke and Orlando? I'm gonna try to follow an mls team but was thinking Philadelphia, NYFC or Orlando

You'll probably find he's actually a new "Soccer" corner flag and not a left back.

It's about 100 mile drive (short hop by mid-west standards). Agree standard is not up to BPL, but games are competitive and fans are loud. Purpose built stadium (about 20,000 and generally sold out), with great concourse areas and believe or not good local brewed beer. Great parking with shuttle buses to stadium and Interstate Access, so can be on the road much faster than the Brit. Usually a bit warmer than the Brit (temperature can be in 100s F, 40s C). Not like a Stoke match but all in all a good day out.

Not glory hunters team like the Red Bulls or the Galaxy. Brand new stadium with great facilities - very dodgy neighborhood. We have a daughter in Philly so maybe we'll see you at a match.

I'm gonna try to follow an mls team but was thinking Philadelphia, NYFC or Orlando # The Orlando part owner (and President?) Phil Rawlins is from Stoke and was a 10% shareholder and board member of Stoke City for about 12 years until 12 months ago. # "Inchy" Heath the Oralndo manager (coach) played for Stoke many years ago # Three of the Orlando players this season (Neil, Shea and Paterson) are ex Stoke players and Orlando have had several other ex Stoke players in their team in the past few years. There are a few other links as well.

Isn't James O'Connor over there somewhere too..?
I'll be following MLS closer this season than ever before - mainly because I have decent internet.
What Phil has done for Orlando over the last 12 months is incredible. Making it a fashionable team for the likes of Kaka to sign. Who would have thought that when he was laughed at by some on here for setting up the Austin Aztecs?
