If you want some real self masturbationary, self harm, kinky shit, read the Daily Mail comments. Ouch! My cursor instinctively avoids anything associated with The Daily Mail, I'm afraid. I reckon that if Stoke employed a few more East European 'immigrant' players, the outrage and frothing at the mouth would go into overdrive. Bring back Staniuk, I reckon.

Of course we have had shit from the media pretty much from the start of getting promoted to the premier league....I think alot of it is because those that work in the media either support or have played for one of the glory clubs, when we get results we needed in the early days it was against one of the darling clubs....Often our results have relegated or upset the way the Premier League is meant be played....The darlings of media don't like it.
Next year is possibly a massive year for us regardless of what the media say they can't argue with the results....Players are going notice this and be alot more interested whats been offered at the club, our own players themselves say he glad they are to be here and that shows because they are still here...I'm sure behind closed doors offers have been made ect...
I really hope Coates backs Hughes properly, what else does the guy need do to get decent backing?

Remember when the crowd used to shout Duuuuuuuuuuu, when the starting XI was announced, and then more recently this shout was inherited by Huuuuuuuuth... Did this tradition start with Duberry? We should do this with Diouuuuuuuuuuuuf.

Imagine if we signed Boo Radley. Poor bloke would never know if he was loved or hated.

Do you know something, and Doobs is an example of this, I'm increasingly of the opinion that we are a pretty special football club.
We aren't the best, we aren't the most glamourous but speak to players who "got the love" from the crowd and they often love the club long after they have left.
It goes back years. Greenhoff, Hudson, Conroy etc were/are all Stokies. George Berry. Steino. Thorne. Kav. Duberry. James O'connor. Asmir. Shawcross. Muniesa. Bojan. Pieters. Walters. Lou. Pulis. Even seemingly the shy recluse that is Mark Hughes.
All of these guys seem to have a very genuine affection for our club, its supporters and our area.
I'm on my way home from an evening where Terry Conroy was the guest speaker.
The overriding observation is that this Irish fella arrived in the 60's knowing no-one. 40 years or so later, Stoke-on-Trent is his home and Stoke City is very much his club.
Sometimes, as we debate the relative merits of Arnie, Diouf or Walters, perhaps we are all guilty of forgetting what a special club we are.
Certain players just seem to "get it". Doobs was/is undoubtedlt one that does.

We spend a lot of time also putting our city down, but it can be no coincidence that so many of our ex players still reside here and in its surrounding areas, and still associate themselves with the club. It still happens at other clubs I should imagine, but we aren't a big club by any means, who are steeped in history of winning big trophies so there must be something of a special feeling around the place for so many ex players to still call it home.

Really not a fan of Duberry. I've read and heard first hand accounts that he and the likes of Dave Brammer and a few others were just bullies in the dressing room, especially to the local lads in the youth set up.

On my travels outside of Stoke I'm yet to speak to anyone who doesn't comment on what decent folk we are, in saying that we're thinking about moving :-)

23 points out of 33 since Boxing Day which is the 3rd best record in the bpl. Quite amazing considering all the injuries we've had!
