we do deserve more credit, but I prefer us to stay under the radar

Remember when the crowd used to shout Duuuuuuuuuuu, when the starting XI was announced, and then more recently this shout was inherited by Huuuuuuuuth...
Did this tradition start with Duberry?

Quite interesting comments about the media , listening to and reading match reports after the game and the next day it went like this , Chelsea beat so and so liverpool beat so and so arsenal won against so and so , Everton lost at Stoke . I heard that at least half a dozen times

He loved Boskamp.
Must admit, I still have a soft spot for him too!

I honestly don't care about the media. What I do care about is having that buzzing feeling in the pub after Wednesday night. As I said elsewhere I would have happily settled for a point as I imagined, wrongly as it turned out that we were a bit shagged out but I severely underestimated the sheer will to win they displayed.
Played some decent stuff as well.

He loved Boskamp. Must admit, I still have a soft spot for him too! When a few of us were in the throes of leaving Wedgwood our 40 mins lunch used to drag on a bit. One day pre season we went down the Mich to have a look at them training. Anyway, they were a playing small passes and someone knocked the ball at waist height past the intended recipient. Boskamp came over to retrieve the ball, at which point one of ours said you need some new players Mr Boskamp. About 30 came there reply. Mad as a fish but he was entertaining. Would probably have taken us down though...

Fair comments, he may not have enjoyed the training but enjoyed the clean sheets.
I liked his defence of the City itself

I heard that at least half a dozen times Switched to TalkSport after P&G finished. When I heard that cockney bloke spit that line out, I was apoplectic with rage. Then they had an Everton fan phone in to say "losing at Stoke is just embarrassing like..." When will this anachronistic view of Stoke end?

I said as much myself. The radio on the way home from the Everton match, was nothing short of a disgrace. If we had lost, they would only have talked about Everton, and it was the same after we won. The media definitely have something against us. Like someone else has said, it's good to go under the radar, but it does stick in your craw! We are Stoke though so sod em!

Dubes is quite correct in everything the says.
One thing I think we don't get credit for, from us the fans too,is how good we are at managing games. Everton might feel they we're worth a draw the other night however Stoke managed the game better,we didn't blow them away for 90 minutes,we attacked at the right times and defended what we had without losing a threat.

Scroll down the comments attached to that article. Look at the Chinese bloke in a Man Utd top whose username is I AM MAN UTD and read his comment. Then shake your head in bewilderment at his complete lack of knowledge of the league placings and the football we are playing. Unless he's being uber-ironic, which I doubt.

He defends Hanley shopping centre as staunchly as he and Clint Hill used to defend a 1-0 lead in the binary season.

This is true. For the past few years whenever we've tried to defend a 1-0 lead I have been sat on the edge of my seat waiting for the almost inevitable equaliser. Wednesday, I was really quite chilled even when Everton had their 20 minute half decent patch second half. We really are looking a decent side.

The noise levels are down too and no birds seem to be flying overhead. What the deck is going on....?

The Sentinel comments are pathetic - it's basically a private slanging match between two or three dysfunctional sociophobes. If I feel particularly masochistic, I read The Guardian comments thread after a Stoke match report. It's particularly bad when we beat a big club and then it's dominated totally by armchair 'fans' who know nothing but soak up all the media stereotyping.
