He is not foreign enough for the big 6 clubs so no other club in the prem (you could Argue Newcastle, villa or Everton) is a step up in regards to size, ambition, cash etc.
He's at a very well run, big prem club.
Why would he move?

Everton or newcastle and that's about it apart from maybe a sizeable foreign club

Peter Coates allowed Hughes to get his career back on track. There were no guarantees he would be offered a top flight position again after what happened at QPR. There's no chance he would leave us at this point.

He has definitely rebuilt his Stock here at Stoke after a poor show at QPR ( probably not all to do with him there) and lasting 5 minutes at Fulham.
In reality he has us challenging right now for pretty much the best position in the league we can expect to achieve. He works for a Chairman who lets him get on with it, A solvent club that does not hire and fire every 5 minutes like most of the other Prem Teams and could have a job with us for the next 10 years plus if he maintains a little bit of improvement every season. I would say Mark Hughes right now has the safest job in the Prem and he would be silly to go and gamble that away by taking a hot potato seat like Newcastle, Everton or Villa where the fans expect success and if you don't achieve it quickly they are soon on your back.
he won't be going anywhere soon I can say with confidence.

New contract and a decent war chest in the summer will keep him here. Anything less and it's a risk.
Simple choice really.

The only club I worry about him going to is Everton - they are a well run, biggish club with a patient, understanding chairman cut from the same cloth as Coatesy. They also have the basis of a decent squad - If they were organised at the back, bought in a decent centre mid and had a plan B, they would be knocking on the door of Champions League in my opinion.
However, I DONT think Sparky WILL move - he has bought into the ethos of SCFC, plus he has managed to assemble a very good squad down here on a shoestring. If we could bring in 2/3 more quality players, we could be an excellent team.

I remember hughesy saying a couple of months into the job that he owed an awful lot and was so so grateful for the opportunity that peter Coates gave him as he honestly thought another crack at the premiereship had passed him by. He's in a good place right now and most definitely at the right club and I honestly believe we may not be too far away from a bit of silverware. Long may he be the manager of our beloved club.

an't see why he'd want to anywhere else at the moment, he's building something very good here and these constant barcelona links make the summer very interesting

It's hard enough for me to get through a damn match. We have nine days until WBA, which means I would normally get to enjoy about 7 days until I become an absolute nervous fucking wreck. Now I see a list of reasons why Hughsey will leave us for Everton. Oh sweet Jesus.

Other prem chairmen are myopic when it comes to Sparky, blinded with visions of THAT QPR team

Hughes has always been a principled and passionate man and I would only expect him to leave if he was made an offer he genuinely could not refuse.
I think he'll be here for a while. He comes across as genuinely happy here, in ways that you can't easily fake.

I seem to remember him leaving Fulham in the hope of landing a 'bigger' job elsewhere...I don't think he'd be so quick to jump ship, honestly. Things are going well here and as someone else has already said, he feels he owes Stoke a lot for giving him another go at the PL.

I agree with that..but...also...the higher we finish. ...the better chance we have of recruiting better players...and of course better managers. So in a way, Hughes needs to keep performing to the same or higher standard just to keep his job. He should be be worried about his own position as we improve as much as we worry about losing him.

When he wins the Premier League with us we'll have to worry.
At that point I can live with the worry!

It will be a great boost for everyone if he ( and his team) signs a new contract before our next game!
Great timing, a good run of form, early bird tickets on sale and any "doubters" realising just what an excellent job our new management are doing.
Well done PC

If we could bring in 2/3 more quality players, we could be an excellent team. My thoughts too. He has tried the 'big project' clubs in Man City and QPR and it hasn't worked out for him. He has however outgrown clubs like Blackburn and Fulham. I hope he feels he can achieve all he needs to at Stoke. I think he will take the current contract, not that contarcts genuinely tie managers to clubs for their term, but you get the feeling he would want to honour it given what he has said about his gratitude to Coates. if the time does come where he feels he needs to move up, then I think Everton would be the most likely and best fit. It is a big club, has a European heritage, he played for them. It would kind of add up.
