We can all have opinions but what really matters is the opinions of those on the receiving end. If THEY find it offensive and unacceptable then that is exactly what it is. Agree with it or not, people should accept that. Absolutely right. Apart from that, it's all a bit pathetic.

I've just reached the point where I accept that the world has moved on considerably during my life time and I have no choice but to accept the world I now live in rather than longing for the one that suited me better. I guess that, if I'm being totally honest, the world has got much better for women (and it needed to) but the world I once inhabited was better for me. I find just about everything a bit pathetic nowadays but then..............I'm getting old.

Listen lads if I'm not at the match could you please all sing put the kettle on , put the kettle on at half time so I don't have to get up and do it myself. I don't think she'd mind making 25,000 cuppas as long as you don't all pinch the custard creams.

You wouldn't (I hope) sing a racist song at a black person. I genuinely wonder what the difference is? One's black and the other has a vagina. Though sometimes you can find both. Google 'black vagina' if you need more info.

Not sure why you're calling me 11 year old boy. Just pointing out loads of sexist stuff on here and down the match. Loads of the photo picture a are well graphic, one guy has a carton of hi trying to bum BOJAN, I'm not Evan kidding, really graphic
So why pick on me calling me names?
Loads of people have graphic pics on their graphic picture profiles. It confused me at first when I came on here, I though they were all birds, I was on the verge of texting them and saying "crikey duck they're a fair pair of baps," but them I realised they were all blokes who used photos off birds they fancied women off the telly. I don't know who any of the, are, the last woman I fancied off the telly was Lisa tar buck,

Could there possibly be anyone left to offend now? Surely that's just about the whole lot of over-sensitive souls covered.
For the record, I found myself looking at the female steward who interrupted Victor's goal celebration at Villa and thinking 'MILF! I'd shag that!'
I will now ban myself from every football ground in the country.

If women want to play any part in the men's game they need to put up and shut up, otherwise they should stick to women's football. There are pictures of heather rabbats on the bbc website, she looks like Sam allardyce in a wig! While some of the posts in this thread complain about political correctness, this goes overboard. I mean come on, replace the word women with blacks this is crude even in the 1950's. As for some complaining about the PC-ness of the FA, in my opinion if the women don't like it then fans should stop. Sure, tell them they suck because they suck, not because they are women. I guess I'm in the minority here.

Vile sexist abuse is different from 'banter'..when I take my daughter to games I cringe sometimes at some of the knuckle-draggers making abusive/offensive comments that they think are funny.
Some men seem to think that women are second class citizens that can be treated like shit.
They aren't.
We've had anti-racism rammed down our throats contnously but not a word is ever said about sexist chanting..ever likely large numbers of men think it's acceptable to abuse young white girls.
Long overdue.

Is there a difference between objectification and sexism? Whether or not either is acceptable is probably the same question but it's probably worth noting that the two may have different motivations.
I mention it only as some have made comparisons with racism. Now I don't believe that objectification has all that many similarities with racism but sexism as a concept probably does.
In my experience I would say that many of the chants I hear are motivated more from objectification which has been indoctrinated into us all our lives and is unavoidable. That's not to say that it can't still cause offence and so the calls to remove it still have validity but I don't think that it's the same argument as racist chanting.

You wouldn't (I hope) sing a racist song at a black person. I genuinely wonder what the difference is? There is no difference. It's good that this comes up. Sexism is stupid. The world becomes a better please as men an woman can participate on equal terms in society. Work gets more fun and we still have sex Funny how when a divorce comes along they revert to the poor little woman

I'd be happier without the worst of the chanting, it really is rough on women officials, docs, physios etc - guys with respect you have no idea what it's like, all the extra scrutiny and hostility just because we happen to belong to a different gender. But I still want an exemption for our version of Delilah
