Obviously we can all agree strangest transfer fee that I know of but I just looked at his Wiki page out of curiosity, I had no idea he had only played around 38 games for us since he joined. That is actually incredible.

Let's see...
4 year contract, conservative 25K per week, 38 games (considering full games too) = 1'520 quid a minute played.

Did he not start in the best away win last season at Villa - 4-1?

Hughes should give him a run in the team due to Ireland's injury. He's 10x the player that Sidwell is.

Unless my memory has completely deserted me (and it IS crap) I recall very, very few people who weren't pretty pleased we'd signed him. He looked exactly what we needed back then and £7 million wasn't a huge fee for someone with his credentials. It all went horribly wrong but...........that's hindsight.

Thought he would be a top player for us. I even thought after that first season he would come good.

Just like Cameron Jerome, Brek Shea, Kenwynne Jones, et al Hughes obviously has his favourites. Palacios is just another World Cup standard player not give a chance. Look at George Waring banging in the goals for Barnsley, what price he will be sold to Leicester, we could have been in the Champions League places with that attacking talent.
And who does he replace this plethora of talent with? Two players not deemed good enough for Barcelona, a man who relegated Fulham, one not good enough for Cardiff and they give a 2 year contract to a bloke aged 34.
It's a recipe for disaster!

Thought he was alright when he played last season but if he's not even making the bench then definitely needs to be sold in the summer

It all makes sense now. Wilson is on a massive wage and he had in his contract that he will not play when it is windy as confirmed through Pulis' interview when explaining his absence. To save money the board have taken the decision not to fill in the corners because they would have to play him. As soon as he is off the books you watch that corner be filled in!

I have to admit that personally, I thought that potentially he was the best part of the "Crouch deal" back then On many occasions there were glimpses of his talent, but it just hasn't come to the fore with any consistency.
