All lovey dovey on the World Cup thread over night... But, back to business this morning; Ireland beat the Windies successfully chasing down a score over 300. Apparently, there have been 5 successful run chase over 300 and Ireland are responsible for 3 of them! Great for Ireland, but what us happening to the Windies is tragic. Cricket is much the poorer while they are in such trouble. Now remember, Scotland beat Ireland in the warm up games and we face Scotland soon in a group game... Please don't go down that avenue Partick .....I have given it some thought and it was unbearable ! Don't worry - there'll be no dancing in the streets of Raith that night. I'm actually looking forward to the next game. England are not as bad as folk make out. All that historical analysis covers a different time. The new squad does approach ODIs differently. Performing so badly against Australia may help them. I predict a glorious victory fir England in the next game against New Zealand!

Very impressive fightback by the Scots, just lost a 5th wicket though. Hope they can see their quota of overs out so they can at least post 220 and at least make a game of it....

Yes , that would be a barest of minimals though I would have thought , the NZ batting looks pretty powerful at the moment , 220 would probably not over tax them , but you never know ....

I never thought I would find myself as describing New Zealand batting as powerful ? ....Such is the way that the game is evolving

A strange approach from New Zeland Very odd indeed, can't see what NZ were trying to achieve by giving their wickets away with some really poor shots. They were caught between romping home and strolling it and nearly ended up tripping over! A message to us though, underestimate the Scotlands of this world at your peril, liked the look of that Wardlaw lad, good line/length.

Kiwis tonight. Lose this and getting through becomes a whole heap more difficult.
Any changes? Hales in? Ravi?

Kiwis tonight. Lose this and getting through becomes a whole heap more difficult. Any changes? Hales in? Ravi? Well - a 48 hour hiatus ends while the wee fellas got on with their thing. Back to the big boys. I predict... An unchanged starting 11. The only way Hayles is getting in is to replace Morgan. And that ain't going to happen today. Bopara might just as well not be there.

Barring an injury it seems unlikely that Hales will get a game in this tournament , looks like it's a question of biding his time, although if I've read Michael Vaughan 's comments recently , he feels that the management are a little dubious about selecting him , for whatever reason ? The ongoing question of Ravi Bobara continues to to be asked ......just why is he there , In what way do they see his possible role , when he plays he is batting at six or seven and not getting a bowl ? They really have to make their minds up about him ...play him and give him a pivotal role or leave him out and move on from him ....I think the latter may be the better option .
