Australia strolled home in the end. All the quarter finals so far have been quite underwhelming. I suspect tomorrow's will be as well. But the semi finals should be better - I hope! Yes, all going as you'd expect. Can't see the New Zealanders losing either. It's a bit much where it's taken a month of the tournament to get down to some meaningful matches. A stunning display by New Zealand but it's the fourth quarter final that ended up as a one-sided contest. But - the semi finals should be close. For the first time we'll get to see how the best teams cope with pressure. Looking forward to both of these games.

237? Wow!
That's not a bad knock for England!
ODI cricket by the top nations is really a different sport to what we play.

It's all going to plan. Just need Australia to do the business and it will be as expected.

Look at the population of New Zealand to England, yet they could end up World Champions at Rugby and ODI Cricket.

Superb cricket from both sides - whoever wrote the script deserves an Oscar. Perhaps the rain came at the wrong time for SA. Take nothing away from the Kiwi's they had a record score to chase down and they did it with aplomb. KP couldn't contain himself in pointing out that Elliot is SA born. Just who does he support nowadays?
All we need now is for the Green and Gold to meet them in the final. The MCG will explode on the day if they can get there. India will provide a stern test. They have now been in Australia for almost three months so the semi will almost be a home game for them. This is a much improved team to that the Aussies beat in the recent series. Go the Aussies.

A big big game today at the SCG. It's a 50/50 chance to get through. The wicket is said to be nearer the old style spinners strip and will have less for the quickies.
Either side will have a battle royal to overcome the rampant Kiwis at the weekend.
Go the Baggy Greens.

But it could well be close. India's strength is their batting and chasing 329 wouldn't usually daze them. But you're not usually facing Starc and Johnson! As a neutral I'm hoping this is as close and exciting as the guest semi final.

There was an incident earlier in the innings that reminded me what a different sport cricket is. Dhawan creamed a cover drive for 4. In the background, off mic, you could hear Shane Warne exclaim "nice shot". Like most cricket fans, when somebody play a good cricket shot I can't help but respond with something like "nice shot". Doesn't matter who it is. Strangely I can't acknowledge similar opposition excellence in football though. "Nice goal Arsenal"

That was a lot easier than I thought it might have been. I suspect that could have been Dhoni's last game. He went out with less pizazz than he normally does.
The final should be a doozie
The Kiwis probably have the edge. They've had a wonderful series and are primed to finish the tournament as champions.
The MCG will be at bursting point on Sunday, although the Aussies will be at a peak. Davie is still to make.his mark and Clarke needs to put his stamp on the game. So who knows what might happen.

The final will be the Black Caps first game outside of New Zealand in this tournament. This means Australa, I reckon, have a big (maybe decisive) advantage by playing on a home ground in conditions that suit their team. I think that factor makes Australia favourites. If the game was in Wellington, I'd have it the other way round. Looking forward to a good final though - without doubt the two best sides in the tournament have made the final.

Been looking at the future tours programme and it would appear that the amount of fixtures England have over the next couple of years is fucking stupidity. This year we've had a world cup and now have test series against the windies, NZ, ozzies and Pakistan. And then South Africa. Compare this with say India who don't play another international game until the end of August. I'm sorry but it's a fucking disgrace the way in which they are cramming in so many games these days. Absolutely no logic to English cricket anymore is it any wonder we are completely fucking shit in all forms of the game...Sod off Downton and Moores you utterly clueless cretin wankers.

Come on New Zealand, do it for Crowey: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/32098709. Have to say though that Australia start as strong favourites for me - being on home soil. It all hangs around McCullum, if he has one of his knocks though, you have to give the Kiwis one hell of a chance.

There is going to be a lot of sentiment surrounding this match.
Crow remains a well respected man ex world class player and cricket ambassador around this part of the world. There will be tears shed on both sides of the Tasman and at the MCG today no matter who wins.
It is also Clarke's last ODI before retirement from that brand of cricket. For the most part he's been a wonderful skipper and spokesperson for the game here in Australia. I wish he all the very best and look forward to the continuation of his test career. Steve Smith is looking to be a worthy successor - bad luck Hads to have been around at the same time as Smith. A big thank you to George Bailey for holding the fort - an unsung hero.
If the Baggy Greens get through I'm also pretty sure that there will be a number of players wanting to remember Phil Hughes. Look for the skyward looks if centuries are scored (and possibly at 63). After this I would hope that they will let his name rest on peace. Enough.
It's going to be a fiery match with man to man contests in the middle, just like cricket matches should be. Two sets of supporters each complete with banners showing their own version of the Southern Cross bellowing their lungs out. This will not be a match for the faint hearted.
May the best team win - but I do hope the flag will be the Southern Cross showing the Federation pointer and white stars can bed down the trophy in the ACB cabinet tonight. Maybe we can also get back to expressing the score wicket first - in the grand old Australian tradition. Maybe reintroduce eight ball overs too - maybe not on that one.

C'mon the Phoenix, go the Black Caps. Should be a cracking day of Australasian sport. May the best teams win and dodgy referee's and umpire's decisions play no part in the outcomes
