I still don't buy this 'makeweight' bollocks. On paper he was the perfect Pulis midfielder and I think Pulis wanted him almost as much as Crouch. It was a joke. If we didn't want him we wouldn't have signed him. He WAS a very good player but we couldn't get him back to his best. If we had he would have been a bargain. At the time I was more excited about palacios than crouch

shows how far we have come when we can have£8 million makeweights, backroom staff f****d up with that one In what way did the backroom staff f**k up? The club backed their manager who'd just delivered them an FA Cup Final and European football. They concluded the deal.

The backroom staff f####d up by not doing a proper investigation into his fitness , state of mind ( r.e. family tragedy ) and why he was not playing for spurs..

Palacios has come on the pitch and been solid for us. I dont blame any player for sitting on his contract. Some players will move on for more money. Family players may want the security of staying in one place. It not so easy now to sell . Players want 5 year contracts but any injury can happen in that time. We must shop carefully.

I dont blame any player for sitting on his contract. Indeed, but what I don't get is the fact that *every* other player 'sitting' has been farmed out, on loan or permanent From Davies, Tonge, Soares through to Shotton, Jerome, Wilko Why can't he go *somewhere*????

I feel a tinge of sadness for Palacios. He's finished as a top player. But don't let us kid ourselves Daniel Levy at Spurs put one over us in this deal

Its a shame really is, I was excited when I heard about him coming to stoke, but then again, I was excited when I heard Michael Owen was coming to stoke.
But hey, what do we know

I don't understand the insults thrown at the bloke....... 'He's costing us' .......he's costing you fuck all, Peter Coates pays his wages, you don't see him throwing insults at the bloke.
It didn't work out and that's it.

What I don't understand is how did Wilson Palacios pass a medical at Stoke but Demba Ba failed one? Never right.

He's a fucking idle leach. If he really wanted to play football I'm sure we'd have heard noise about him wanting to go out on loan. As it is, it's much easier to sit on his fat arse and pick up the easiest fortune anyone will ever earn.
I'll be raising a glass when the shithouse has gone. Be interesting to see if any other clubs bother with him. But then again, stranger things have happened in football.

When we were trying to sign him I was really excited, just what we needed despite a Spurs mate saying he's shot to bits and nowhere near the player he was before the situation with his brother.surely the player was watched? Opinions sought? But still signed him on a long contract. I don't blame palacios at all cos he looked like a player in flashes but when excuses like its to windy for him are made then you know a massive mistake has been made.

He was bought as part of the Crouch deal it's known as a makeweight. Is that "makeweight" or make weight

The most expensive of a few Pulis fuck ups and still part of the legacy, all they had to do was speak to the Spuds fans they knew the situation, as for it been part of the Crouch deal that would mean we payed £20 million for an ageing striker, no wonder Pulis was sacked is it.

Think of it this way. When Muniesa first came and struggled with his English, Palacios took him under his wing and helped him to settle in. If he hadn't settled in so comfortably then he wouldn't have convinced Bojan to sign. So Palacios is single handedly responsible for Bojan signing here. He's basically a club legend.

On a side note, remember reading about the work he is doing in Honduras and the UK working with youth gangs and promoting football as a way out. Must have a lot to do with his brothers murder. That's pretty messed up thing to deal with. Seems a really decent guy and maybe not as idle and useless as people think. Tone might have known all about his mental issues and thought he could mend him, but it seems he's let the tragedy ruin his pro career almost entirely. Quite tragic really.
