yikes, where on earth would it leave Diouf (who we just signed) and Crouch (whose contract we just extended) when you think neither of them were a first choice on Saturday before we brought in a new £100,000 a week man

Would be a strange one, not really a replacement for Bojan, but wouldn't mind him, he seems to be OK for a couple of months then can't be arsed.

I agree. They have to sell papers and to put competition for a player in the paper adds a bit of excitement!

We are only a few points of safety, but a lot of points off a European place. He is cup tied so no use to us in the cup. So why would the club spend that kind of money, with no guarantees of any extra points.

I can't see Levy subsidising any move. No one screws other clubs when moving players as good as he does.

One of the best players in the league on his day. But his day comes about once a season.

Don't want him.
Good striker until he gets a big contract and then it's Kenwyne Jones territory.

Do we need another 30 or older striker? Nope. Of course I said the same last year with odemwingie, so, what the hell do I know?

Spurs have put him in the shop window, it's an easy link to make. Doesn't mean there is a grain of truth in it though.

So why would the club spend that kind of money, with no guarantees of any extra points. You speak as though signing Adebayor would be a loss unless we got into Europe as a result. Lets say Adebayor's wages to the end of the season would be £1.5 million. If signing him meant that we finished 3 places higher than we otherwise would, then we would have made a small "profit" on the deal because each place is worth over £1 million in merit payments. 3 places higher and we'd make a significant profit and even 1 place higher would mean we recouped most of the cost.

It's the Jim Trott sentence from me
No no no no no
I don't think we need him at this time unless somebody is leaving, we need a pacey wide player.

Don't want him. Good striker until he gets a big contract and then it's Kenwyne Jones territory. Probably true. But I'm sure if we signed him it would be to the end of the season only - we are not about to offer any striker £100k per week on a permanent contract. Any such deal would be short term to try to push us up the table by a few places (see my post above) and to put him in the window for a move in the summer.

Needs his confidence building. Hughes can get him back to his best. I think give him a million and then top up with a weekly wage . We can afford him.

From the times....
Spurs striker Emmanuel Adebayor is not keen on a move to QPR, Stoke City or West Brom.
All paper bollocks for me and the mirror had crouch nailed on for west Brom too earlier in the window.

Good player with a reasonable strike rate. But would question massively his team work ethic. We have a great spirit in our dressing room and he is the type to ruin that. For that reason I'm out.
