Cutting out booze is what makes the big difference. They should put calorie levels on alcohol as well as the number of units. Gym work is good stuff though - I do my sessions in the evenings though. Like you a mixture of stuff. Oh, and one other thing - I (mostly) use stairs not lifts or escalators. The lifts at my work are so slow you are just as fast walking to the 4th floor! If you are an England Cricket follower , cutting out the booze would be like having the final nail in the coffin ! It's the only thing that got me through the last Ashes series and I'm already stocking up for the summer ! Any more palatable tips than this would be welcomed though Good point - may need a sabbatical from all this health and fitness lark for the Ashes. Shame Boycott no longer plays - he was always good value to take the heat / pace / life out of any situation! Cook has potential in this regard, but he's going to have to stay out in the middle much longer than he has recently. A six hour snooze fest from Cook on day one of the first test would be fine for me with England at 285 - 3 at stumps and Cook coming back for more in the morning. I think I need my medication!

As you know where England are concerned as always I'm the eternal optimist, so therefore I'm anticipating an alcohol free summer ! ( It could be that I'm suffering from a delayed touch of sun stroke though ) so it's probably just as well that I've laid in an adequate supply of malt whisky as a precaution !

Yes ....riding and looking after my horse is my exercise .....And I like wandering about with my metal detector ...that must burn a few calories off surely ? Have you found anything worthwhile? I enjoy a walk with mine too - but its rusty gate latches that I usually unearth... yes I've found some interesting stuff ...obviously I'm hoping to strike a Viking hoard one day ... I've found a few hammered thins and some tokens .. It's theraputic digging of holes ...although sometimes I think I'm digging up a tractor in bits...
