What's the odds of someone saying 'Well if you've got nothing to hide then you've got nothing to worry about' in order to justify ever more corrosion of our freedom and privacy

What would you suggest as the way forward? Should the government try and protect its citizens or not (the means may not be palatable but the alternative is?)? Should the government combat terrorists (and I'm aware history may label them as freedom fighters) or not?

Fucking ridiculous.
The Daily Mail is outraged. But just in case there are any jihadists out there who have not seen the information yet................ they provide a direct link to the video.
They really are getting quite lazy with their propaganda these days.

Should the government combat terrorists (and I'm aware history may label them as freedom fighters) or not? Of course they should to both, but it doesn't mean we have to give up our freedoms & privacy. I don't feel at anymore risk of being killed by a terrorist than I do of being killed by some 'gangster', or just some nutjob who has decided he wants to murder someone. I'll take a good guess that at some point over the next few days in London someone from one gang will go & kill someone from another gang (With a chance of innocent people being caught up in it) but I don't see anyone wanting to give up their privacy to combat this. At some point over the next few weeks some white Englishman will go & murder someone (or some people) for no real reason at all. Again I don't see anyone wanting to give up their freedoms & privacy to combat this. I reckon over that same period we'll have zero acts of terrorism in this country, oh but 'terrorism' goes hand-in-hand with 'Muslim'..... Argh, Muslims, quick Government save me, save me. Censor the internet, read all my emails, listen to all my phone calls, infact go the whole hog & put cameras in every room of my house so you can save me from the billions of Muslim terrorists living in my street. It's pathetic scaremongering & propaganda in order to erode more of our freedoms...... And it's shocking how many people are falling for it & all too willing to give up all their freedom & privacy.

I shall tell you what has happened in the UK this week the first doctor has gone on trial for cutting of a young girls clit all in the name of Allah. Plans shall be passed to build a faith school in Blackburn for Muslim girls nothing like a bit of integration. A ISIS fighter we be stopped trying to enter the UK after faking his death in Syria don't know what his plans were I wonder ?? Abu Rahin Aziz will skip his bail for a stabbing a non Muslim jump on a plane and fuck off to Syria to fight his Holy war hopefully he don't come back. Luton Islamic centre will ban music. The British Council of Mosques will say they have no problem backing Sylvie Beghal, Yeah that's right him who is accused of radicalising the Paris attackers. The British council of Mosques has no problem with him haha. That's off the top of me head and were only on Wednesday. On the bright side though non of this will outrage Muslims. Erick Pickles will though cause the racist will send a letter to all Mosques asking for their help nothing more. I mean how dare he.

That's all well & good but I'm really not sure how the Government reading your emails will force the Islamic centre in Luton to play music.

The good news is, if you put the effort in someone will always work to provide a backdoor. It seems to be the case the vast majority of terrorists are far less competent than your average person who pirates TV shows and dvds etc.

It wont just an example of the Sharia slowly coming to the UK if you want talk about your freedoms being lost ? Anyway if the security forces had been monitoring this scumbags data traffic ??

The problem is none of us have any idea how many lives have been saved in foiling terrorist acts over the past decade. Do the security services need these additional measures to save lives in the future? Again none of us know. I suppose if the measures are approved but no terrorist acts are commited it proves nothing but if an act does occur and these measures aren't approved then they'll say it happened as the security services didn't have the intelligence.

The whole point Edward Snowden is making is that the intelligence services are using the powers they already have to spy on us all in areas of life completely unrelated to terrorism.
To juxtapose him and terrorism is to deliberately muddy the waters in order to lessen his message and disarm any form of opposition when they introduce the new legislation that invade our privacy.
I think the term they use for this kind of trickery is cognitive dissonance.

All these things are done in good faith but like anything else its abused to get at ordinary everyday folk.

What a pity that some of our Muslim friends are not as enlightened as this chap, how refreshing.
