Just out of interest, what level of football have you played? Once did 9 kick ups on top of the Roaches, that was pretty high.

I was that kid left in the playground once everyone else was chosen who no one wanted on their side. I was SHIT. Found rugby once I left Stoke, but was too old by that time to reach any level but I loved it (and was pretty good). Took coaching course and coached kids up to 15 years old for about 15 years then took football referee course and became the target of Sunday league hangover thugs for about 10 years.

I've played in none other than the Southport and District Sunday League First Division. I'm now with no club due to a lack of passion ever since I didn't receive an international call up after our mighty charity cup win. The match was even shown on YouTube a week or two after so Hodgson had no excuse as far as I'm concerned.

What year you play for them? being an Alsager bloke i occasionally popped down. Couldnt even say what league they play in now. Think they still play at Wood Park. They fell on hard times last few years i think. I played for them for 3 seasons between '84 and '87 with the likes of pudder, mickey cowden , Ian Wheaton etc When I go home to see the fossils and if theyre playing at home and I cant ge tickets for Stoke I go to wood park and watch them. The old clubhouse and changing rooms have gone unfortunately Was that Pudder Prince? And also is that Mick Cowden who used to teach Karate at the leisure centre? H

Managed to play a season at college level in the US. It was a decent standard from what I can remember. Never had much luck in the UK though school level was about as good as it got for me. what year and university? It was Texas Tech in 2003. Sadly it wasn't an NCAA side just a college club side we played a few other Colleges though had a few decent games against Texas A&M. There were quite a lot of South American lads in the team who were pretty handy. I'm not sure quite what the criteria is for proper college side though they had a women's one would it be funding?

Local pub league, never really pushed myself football wise once I left school. Played a lot of 5 aside tournaments, came 3rd in a tournament in Manchester out of 32 teams, was good fun.
Only played in pub league as I'm an ok keeper and my locals keeper was injured, so I was asked to play.
Still get asked now but I just don't fancy it. I'm quite happy just watching Stoke.

In the seventies, as a part of the Equal Rights amendment there was this thing attached to it called Title IX. It is meant to provided equal opportunity for men and women's sport. This means schools have to do equal funding for men's and women's athletics. So big American football schools, the publicly funded ones, often don't have money to spend on men's (soccer) because American football costs so much with the equipment and lots of coaches and all. That's why there are a lot of club teams for men's sport. I played for cal state Hayward from 1999-2003 and we often played the club teams in pre-season. Many of the players on those teams could have played at NCAA schools, but being foreign and all they probably didn't get scholarship offers from coaches and went to schools that didn't have a NCAA or NAIA program.

Complete and utter shite really. Having said that, I am a founder of a club in the national league here. The first club in The Bahamas ever to go from youth to senior football. So, as they say , fuuuuuuuuuck you!

Goalkeeper or goal-getter. Springfields Junior School, Penkhull SM school. Penkhull Youth Club. Played for Rheindahlen Garrison in the mid-60s year we got to the Army Cup final in Aldershot. Goalie, but missed the final with a broken finger. Played for HQ 3 Div, HQ AFNORTH, School of Infantry and the British Embassy Prague FC against local Czech teams in the late 70s. Captained the winning 5 a side London and Home Counties Housing Association team (over 100 entrants) and received trophy of none other than Garth Crookes on the day. Having scored only one from 3 penalties at my Grand-daughter's school fete last year and falling over in the process, I finally hung up my boots!

played for a few years for Bristol rovers (probably before most of yours time), also Newport County and Bournemouth. ended up for a while at that shithole of a club Gillingham and ended up managing a few teams as well.
was never really that good but made frustrating the fuck out of players an artform (as well as a few fans along the way)
can't be arsed anymore so spend most of my time on the south coast whilst pretending to give a shit about the latest team i'll half bother with for a couple of months before i piss off and leave them in the lurch

Hellu!
I'm from Sweden. I have always played as a center forward, wearing number 10. I was extremely quick, with good technique.
Curiosity: I have never ever played a single game of football without scoring!!!!!!!!!!
I played in our class team and also in our school team in the west district. In the military service I played in the platoon team and in the company team.
My father was a coach for a team in division 3 when I was growing up. Because of my talent when I was a kid growing up I was part of a team on a trip up north the country, and played the game coming on as a substitute the last five minutes and scored (of course). Even though I was several years younger than them.
Later on at elementary school and secondary school (when I was 13-18 years old) several clubs were interested in getting me. The best club of them all Örgryte IS - then playing in Allsvenskan, the highest divsion in Sweden.
Possibly I would have become a pro eventually (perhaps at Stoke, why not, since it has been my fav club all my life), but I did choose other things.

I played in the local leagues for quite a few years, but at one stage i was playing 4 full 90 minute games a week, for 4 different teams, i loved it. Thursday afternoon in half holiday league, saturday afternoon for wedgwoods, then hanford boys club, sunday mornings for the bulls head in hanford, real pearls, who then changed their name to hanford rangers, then sunday afternoons for dresden nomads. I was a 6ft 4in centre forward, who was actually better with the football at my feet, than in the air :-)
