You're taught to do that as a goalkeeper from an early age. It's called protecting yourself. I would love to know where the ill-feeling between Shawcross and Van Persie comes from though? There were allegations of Shawcross breaking off an interview in the tunnel after last seasons game at the Theatre of Shite to confront Van Persie together with allegations of a tunnel punch up at the Brit after last seasons game. I was always taught to jump with my knee up but not studs up (although I did jump with studs up occasionally). The other one was finding an attackers toe to take off from when claiming a corner. For me this was just a warning. VP is an 'orrible' cunt who regularly goes in on keepers and defenders with studs and elbows. Bego was just giving him a warning. For Stoke's sake I think he could have been more subtle about it but still had the desired effect but Begos actions were more than justified. ????

Anyone who thinks Bego should have seen red for that is sadly mistaken. 100% correct.

Shouldn't have seen red but he was a bit silly to exaggerate the stamping motion. The ref was useless and could have done anything.

At a guess mate .....Aaron Ramsey Did Van Persie play in that game? Not that it makes any difference I guess and that is what I thought which just goes to show what a snivelling bunch of wankers Arsenal and anyone associated with that club, past or present, are.

Van Persie had a sly go at Bego earlier in the game. I believe that's why he raised his foot, to warn Van Persie that he wasn't going to get away with it again.

The producers of that video clearly thought it was a yellow as they put it next to the scoreline

I saw the incident and it made me feel uncomfortable. A lot worse happens but what worries me now is that there may be players now planning to goad Bego into doing it again and making a bigger meal of it to try and get him sent off. The officials will also be watching Bego closer as they were for Ryan's holding and looking for a chance to show they are in control.

In my opinion Van Periwinkle should be tied to a lamp post in Canal Street.

Shawcross was having a go at him as far back as his sending off vs Sorensen and fair fucking play to him for it! The man has character and he has an obvious reaction to Van Persie, and knows how to channel it for the good of the team. If he happens to enjoy it along the way then all the better for him

I remember a home Stoke v The Arse game where Sorensson had the ball in the box but on the floor, Van Persie ran on, Tommy picked the ball up and VP shoved Tommy into the back of the net ... straight red! Were refs less subject to the big team syndrome back then?????

No law saying you can't stamp your foot on the floor, it was miles in front of Van Pussy and very exaggerated, I was right behind it and I thought it was quite funny a bit like the ministry for funny walks, I also loved it when Bego messed with Falcao's headband and pony tail, Falcao didn't though. Gouranga.

My take on it, Van Persie always has been a nasty little shit, Bego had already seen him up to his usual sly stuff most don't see but the pros do
and reacted accordingly
The likes of Van Persie apart form being world class at the game - are arrogant and think they can be habitually dirty with no come back
Bego Just reacted along the lines of:- you're here at Stoke son and, we wont stand for any of your 'fucking about'
I also didnt realise how dirty that 'Columbian slimeball' was until I'd seen him live either

Gouranga. Quite right, Begovic is in complete control of the situation and is always getting to the ball first so if he catches Van Persie it's because Van Persie has run into him. In the end he's nowhere near him anyway so if you're going to start giving people red cards or bookings for that then you're not going to finish many games as everyone will be sent off.
