If you're looking for pubs that serve decent grub (not the generic shite you get in Toby Carvery or Hungry Horse), which are the best ones to visit?
Personally, I'd recommend:
The Furlong (Pitshill) The Red Cow (Werrington)

Forget it's name, after all I been left a few years now, but it's at the bottom of Town Road ( I think) fuckin ell I'm helpful, basically leave Hanley with Sainsburies on your right, down towards festival park, and it,s on your left get to the roundabout, virtually opposite Allied Carpets, formerly Brannigans....

That will be The Plough, very snug inside (too snug for my liking - very claustrophobic and was about 240 degrees!!), renowned for their steaks. The owners retired bout year and half ago but the bar manager took over the licence I think?

I went the Furlong yesterday, really nice. Gets very busy though so you'll have to book. Tried to get in there the Friday before Christmas but it was full, ended up at that newish place not too far away by a new housing area and the tunstall bypass (can't remember it's name) was taking mum and sister out and they suggeested it. Anybody know what it's called? the food wasn't that great and we had to send it back to be reheated as it was cold, won't be going again.

Chatterley Whitfield? Heard a lot of bad things about that place, everyone went on about it when it opened.

A little out of the way, in Sutton The Ryles Arms, hands down the best pub for food I have ever been to.
