Derby play Forest in the early kickoff that day so it might be a pain switching trains there if you were considering it.

Have you tried breaking up the trip ,sometimes is lots cheaper ie Stoke -Derby,Derby -Leicester tickets.

We're doing it from Stafford mate. Get to Stafford station on the cheap ;-) then from there to Leicester is £11.60 return

Who knows, the railway network has the strangest prices with no logic to any of it. Never ever simply book tickets online or at a ticket office as you will be royally ripped off.
