It's not about pay though is it? It's about scheduling. All those so called "international weekends" where there is nothing to do except jerk yourself off for a fortnight then suddenly there are 3 games in 7 days These holiday fixtures showcase the Prem to a global audience with all of the other big leagues on holiday. Pure marketing genius.

All games should be played Monday because liverpool and swansea play monday night so they get more recovery time. Why couldn't we all play on the afternoon then?

Now wind yer neck in and offer your settee to The Potteries favorite son ... Chugga!

Couldn't be a better time to play the Baggies imo. Why? They are playing very well but have not had the breaks and have virtually a full squad to choose from for the first time in several weeks whereas we seem to be coming apart at every nail. can I have some of the drugs you are taking?

There is a good case for a mid winter break BUT Boxing Day should remain. Not that a winter break will happen. Not that greedy thick clubs can be trusted not to whisk their players to Dubai or Qatar for lucrative friendlies. There should be a winter break every two years when the acon takes place. This coincides with the aftermath of euros and world cup so wouldn't impact. Just end the season slightly later Plus no clubs can have international friendlies The acon should be moved to the same time as the euros

Absolutely crackers scheduling. Â Boxing day - OK fine, but to play 2 days later then again on New Years Day? One game too many for me. & then 3rd round fa cup for most on Sat 3rd. So 4 games in 9 days. Never more has a big squad been important

All games should be played Monday because liverpool and swansea play monday night so they get more recovery time. Why couldn't we all play on the afternoon then? I think because Monday is classed as a normal working day even though a large percentage of the workforce are on holiday. Can't see why we all can't play Monday night though.

I love the Christmas schedule. I think what I would like to see change is that I would get rid of all the international breaks, have the season finish four weeks earlier and then stick all the international fixtures in the period between the end of the season and where the end of the season would have been. This. Christmas football is the best and international breaks are shite!

I agree my wife is 40 today and not happy i'm goin the match, Lol

In the good old days if Boxing Day fell on a Friday we would also play on the saturday and play an FA Cup round 3 game on the Sunday AND the players would smoke 40 Capstain Full Strength a day.

It's great for the fans if the fixtures fall right. We have 3 games to go to in 8 days.
To top it all off my lady is walking around with a face like thunder! ;D

Chelsea, West Brom, Man Utd & Wrexham all at home within 12 days is enough to test any relationship ;-)

Personally I would shut all but essential services for both Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Football could be played on the day after Boxing day which is normally a holiday for non-essential services. It would mean doing without one game but would allow shop assistants etc to have a break.

I agree with Gods on this one. If these injuries keep on coming, I'm not looking forward to Manure!

I quite like it. I think its pretty unique in the footballing world and poses managers a players a real challenge.
And in the past you always looked forward to the big crowds. Never ceased to amaze me how an extra 5,000 could easily be added to our average home crowd.

It's madness from a scheduling point, but I've always loved it from a fans point, especially with the FA Cup third round just after new year too

All games should be played Monday because liverpool and swansea play monday night so they get more recovery time. Why couldn't we all play on the afternoon then? Because it's all about selling TV rights around the world, nothing to do with players' recovery time or fans expenditure. It's tougher for some, e.g. Burnley and Leicester - beaten at home Friday, away today!

Christmas '94 was where it's at. Gus Poyet would've had a breakdown!
Back-to-back, baby!
26.12.1994 Swindon Town home D0-0 27.12.1994 Bristol City away L1-3 31.12.1994 Middlesbrough home D1-1
