Left work in Leeds bang on four. Went around the M60 picking up the A34 through Wilmslow. Parked up and walking along the side of the Seddon when they scored. Don't think there was any quick way around it. Four hours is as long as it's ever taken, even longer than the windy Swansea game.

Still quicker walking in this shithouse traffic! I know mate its wank! Weston Betley, madeley and Newcastle is the way forward! It is everyday to be honest. That single carriageway section along the A500 is absolutely treacherous.

Back about an hour now ... 120 mile round trip (from Liverpool) - with the closest we got to seeing the match being the radio coverage from Nige and the other lad. (And Griff, who gave us an insight into how the game is played at the top level; i.e. get stuck in and let 'em know you're there. A bit like my old pub side then)! I've been delayed before, but setting off from Liverpool 3 hours before kick off has never caused me to miss a match. My only consolation is ... I would have been even more gutted if I'd missed us win!

Left Manchester 5.10pm. Just under 3 hours via Middlewich and Crewe. We said we'd probably get into the ground 5 minutes late and miss a goal. Was on the Boothen End steps at 8.01pm just in time to see the corner from which Terry scored

Crossed Thelwall viaduct with 2 hours and 10 minutes to go to kick off. Left M6 at J19 and headed slowly in heavy traffic towards Northwich then Crewe and finally picked up the A500 just after Weston. More bottlenecks on A500 until we went under the M6 but then a very quick painless journey along the A500 to Fenton where we parked and walked to the ground, arriving at the turnstiles with 5 minutes to kick off. So 2 hours and 5 minutes from the Thelwall viaduct to the turnstiles. Seemed like an age but we probably did it a lot quicker than many fellow Stokies. Most accidents are someone's fault - it is quite rare when they are an act of God. Whatever punishment they hand down to the idiot who caused it will not compensate those who were injured nor the thousands of travellers who had a few hours of trauma they would rather forget.

Fully agree with the last paragraph. I've managed to calm down now, but 6 hours of driving for no end product is very demoralising. Still, it could have been a lot worse. Thoughts go out to the families involved in the accident.

A sh*t day all round for road accdients what with the M6 and the incident in Glasgow. Puts all the Christmas insanity into perspective. On a practical note - thank f*ck I was off work and could set off for the game an hour early. And also - I've never been more glad of owning a Sat-Nav with traffic service. Had to do a similar route (Off M6 at 19, Northwich, Middlewich, Alsager, Audley-> A500) for the Newcastle game (mondays!). I will be memorising it for when the Friday night games start!

JeyCov - that story is from 6 years ago - check the date on the headline mate. Last I heard 5 people were taken to hospital after the M6 crashes yesterday and 2 had serious injuries.

Apologies - no fatalities at this incident and as you have stated, 2 in hospital with serious injuries. As well as featuring the dreadful incident in Glasgow, I misunderstood the reporting of the M6 situation on the news.

Has to get jailed if driving whilst unfit and causing serious injury. Otherwise, what confidence can we have in the justice system?

I left Preston just after 3pm and arrived in Stoke around 8.25pm for a journey of over 60 miles. Nearly Five and half hours.
My mistake is I should have got off the M6 at jct 18. The reason I stayed on was that on Radio Stoke a Cheshire police spokeswomen mentioned they expected the M6 to be clear by 6.30pm. At 7.30pm I thought well it looks the radio then. Arrived in the stadium just before HT after parking somewhere near Fletcher Road.
It has to be my worst journey to the Brit travelling from Preston. Previous worst was about 3hrs 30 min

Previous worst was about 3hrs 30 min Blimey, leaving the M6 at J19 really paid off for me then. I picked Luke45 up at Carnforth Rail station at 5 pm and that must be 30 miles north of Preston. And, as I said above I arrived at the ground 5 mins before kick off.

Around 5pm might have been a bit latter it mentioned they expected the roads to be clear around 6.30pm as one lane was open on the M6 and that roads off Jct 17 & 18 were packed. I was around Jct 18 at the time. Not the birthday present I wanted, but thankfully stayed at my parents home in Newcastle Under Lyme last night. I was shattered.
